Once upon a time, I read that in the original version of R2, Shirley was supposed to live the whole way through and eventually start a relationship with Lelouch. The final episodes of the series centered around the Black Knights HeadQuarters being invaded by Britannia, so Lelouch decides to consumnate the relationship during the final moments available to him; there was a lengthy and fairly explicit sex scene planned between Lelouch and Shirley in the final episode. Suzaku breaks into the room and stabs Lelouch from behind while they're in the middle of intercourse, however, slaying his best friend during his happiest moments (Shirley breaks down in tears afterwards, a role that was recycled with Nunnally in the officially-aired R2).
Does anyone know if what I read is true? I love R2 the way it is, but I have to admit this would have been an interesting ending and I'd have liked to see the fandom's response to it.

ROLO DEMANDS AN EXPLANATION FOR THIS BULLSHIT.
No, but in all seriousness? The original R2 was different but had to be rewritten due to scheduling changes. The result we get? Rolo. Yes, that's right. ROLO. And then Shirley getting bumped off as a result. sry2say.
In fact, the staff apparently adores Rolo (if you know what the Wesley is, that's Rolo in a nutshell). And don't quote me on it, but there's been discussion that Rolo is essentially the writers' avatar for their frustration at having to rewrite season 2? IDK I'M NOT SURE ABOUT THIS.
But anyway. If Lelouch couldn't manage to tap dat C.C. ass when he had the chance, there's no way he would've hooked up with Shirley.
The only thing I can say that I like about this "potential" ending is that either way, Lelouch gets impaled by Suzaku. Homolust end confirmed forever.

You mean this?
Also, that gif goes so perfectly with

But yeah, there was this one and it's been discussed on tvtropes a few times. It's actually an interesting theory.

Clearly. The image is a cap of a 4-chan post on /a/. Nobody takes it seriously (or if they do they're silly).
The only 4-chan theory I ever gave even a second of consideration was the "Lelouch got a Code from his father as his father strangled him but as we saw with Charles it doesn't activate until the person 'dies' so Lelouch would simply regenerate after Zero requiem and be immortal" theory. And even though the theory as written in full is consistent with the facts of canon, it makes no sense with Lelouch's character for him to evade what he sees as his penance, so I don't take it seriously.

No, but seriously, like
But yeah. I doubt that's what Taniguchi was thinking when he created Rolo, but us fangirls (and guys) can dream. ;A;
