A very random observation and very wild speculations.

Okay, so I was tinkering a little bit with the official Geass website. Wanted to look at all the pretty merchandise. And by chance looked again at the characters relationship tree thingy. Now, I noticed something very fishy. ~Tudum tudum.... cue in Sherlock Holmes BGM~

Lookie here.

And notice, now squint and really look at the people whose faces are blurred and stamped with big japanese characters which means killed. Well, that's the translation that Excite is giving me. The three people that are said to be killed are Clovis, Mao and Cuelle (dunno if this is the right spelling, let's just call him Orange-rebel). If we recall, and I know all of us who watched up to the latest episode still remember the shocking events that made our minds numb for a while, those three are not the only ones who are no longer with the living.

BAM! Two people have stamp-less faces. Euphie and more importantly Marianne! Aren't they supposed to be dead?. Now, that gives me a bit reason (valid or not) to believe that they might not be dead after all. That there might be something, I dunno but some crazy future plot hole that will make them come 'alive' again.

That, or someone's getting lazy and not updating the damn site. Heh...

I'm more interested in the guy who's probably Aurelius. I think his siblings stole all the pretty genes.

Someone's not updating, or we're going to get wacky World of C antics from those two, like some sort of spirit quest (god, that sounds dumb. Anyways, "experience to resolve the magical crap happening in Geass") of Lelouch's where Euphie and Marianne help him through. Because if the Emperor can make contact with definitely-dead Clovis and CC can make contact with probably-dead Marianne, someone has to be able to talk to Euphie.

See, this is following my theory quite nicely. Clearly, Euphemia will return next season, only with a stylish white mask on, and on the other side. With amnesia.

I got about halfway through before I figured I ought to use Mwu's mask, but it wouldn't fit over her head anyways.

God, Aurelius, get a shave.

And yeah, basically what [livejournal.com profile] crazythorn said. Either that's pre-23 and they haven't modified it yet or there'll be magical reappearances from beyooond. Although I'm thinking it's both, since I'm slightly more doubtful about Euphie reappearing via Geass connection if she didn't really have much contact with it in the first place... something like that. (Then again, we don't really know why Marianne can carry on talking with C.C., either.)

Randomly, anyone else realize that Marianne's probably been viewing Lulu's shenanigans all this time through C.C. TV?

C.C. TV....lol....
I think the website just has not been updated...If u look under Mechanics(thats what i think it says,) you will see that the don't have Gawain there(it says coming soon)..

also I don't think Marianne is dead

Does this mean Lulu will get to talk to Euphie?

Yay, bring on the angsty ghost memories for season two!

Marianne is alive: I think. C.C was talking to Marianne, in the last ep. al least mentioning her. and from all the side manga's like nightmare of nunnally, you get bits that insist marianne is important, and might show later

One should be wary of things on the website - unlike other series like Gundam SEED Destiny, they seem very slow to update, unless it pertains to the online episode summaries. For example, despite being already active for three-four episodes, the Gawain is still missing on the mecha page. Yet the Gekkas are already featured. Moreover, they took their time putting the profile page for that Britannian mobile, tracked fortress Clovis used for ep1. Same thing for the VTOLs used to transport the KFs. And what about the Knightpolice Frame, seen during the 'Refrain' episode? Nah. They took their sweet time.

So beware - mistakes and delays are to be expected.

However, for the characters, there is still a lot of mystery shrouding them. And from what spoiler people have said on 2chan, it doesn't seem like the top brass (Okouchi, Taniguchi) aren't actually telling everything to the rest of the staff, including the seiyuus, so we're a bit on an uneven field here. For example, when commenting on Kallen's brother, Taniguchi seems awfully vague on his current status, much to the surprise of the seiyuus, who went all 'eeeh?' Instead, he stated that 'he could be dead or alive, nobody knows'. For such an unimportant character, he sure seemed worth that little notice.

But as for Marianne, Fake Okouchi, the confirmed 2chan spoiler man (speculated to be the real Okouchi for obvious reasons, but nevertheless confirmed to be a member of the CG-LotR staff), was confronted with a similar question:

(copied and pasted from GameFAQs and translated by Celiss Galvea)
Q: (Why is Marianne not listed as "dead" on the official site's character relation chart?)
A: I'm pretty certain she's dead.

So the question remains - however, one character can very well be active in a series while not necessarily being alive. She could very well be in the Spirit World/World of C while conversing with medium-like C.C....

Hm, I think it's more "absolute confirmation of death" is what is stamped; they want the mystery for Marianne, and for Euphy- well they cut us off on her after she "died". (IstillholdhopebutItjhinkshe'sdead.) :/

Euphie is dead for good.

I am 100% sure Marianne is dead dead DEAD.
Euphie is more of a 98% chance because I'm an insane idiot.
And I know that Orange-rebel guy is dead.He was blown up in the Narita battle.
Clovis is dead as a rusty doornail.
I believe the site doesn't update often because neither V.V. nor Schneizel are on the list.

Realistically,I think Marianne is a spirit, destined to look over her son to make sure he chooses a good girl and he won't think of doing anything too mature for his age to a girl.No seriously, that's my perception of Marianne's role...

Schneizel's on the list. He's the one below Euphie and above Lloyd labelled シュナイゼル.

Why isn't there a line for Nanaly and the emperor? did they leave it out on purpose or not?
Date/Time: 2007-04-15 01:25 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] norikosama.livejournal.com
I guess that it's either obvious that they will die or someone is super lazy.
And uh,who the heck is that guy below Clovis's picture?
If it's someone we already know that let me just say I am as ignorant as hell.
I'm just a curious freak.

The guy below Clovis is the First Prince.

As for Orange-rebel,.... I thought he was alive. In that episode where the scientists' .... experiment ... subject woke up and said, "Good Morning" ... I thought that the scientists had picked up Orange-rebel when he was wounded and used him for their experiment. Or maybe the guy doesn't look so much like Orange-rebel as I thought... T-T SO he's dead now, huh?
