My personal possibly wanky conclusion : Japanese viewers are really, really sentimental. Not that I think they weren't good scenes, though.

well, you sure don't see those *annoying* sappy TV dramas in East Asia here in America, the most emotion you see is from some angst brother and his angst brother who go around doing stupid stuff .__. *whistles*

Hm, why the heck are there more Asians here Though, I believe the source of this difference lies in where the person is. For example, if you were bred in er...say, Japan, whether you're of oriental descent, you'd probably like those sappy dramas, it's more of a situational induced culture thing.

Er...I'll stop babbling now.
