Not surprised by the series poll results. I've always figured that TGL, while insanely popular in our blogging community and within the hot-blooded mecha crowd in Japan, is actually not so popular in its native country. It sells itself via fast-paced action and plot, and that style is not as loved in Japanese literature as it is in the West. (CG is fast-paced within an episode, but is not fast considering the big picture)

Towards the Terra is also not surprising, heh. It's exactly the kind of retro space opera that any SF crowd should love. <3
