Huh, maybe the translation I had of 25 was wrong, then? It said he knew, but he'd wanted it to be wrong, so he'd denied it. Or something to that extent.

Yes, he knew 99.9 % it was his best friend, Lulu, but he just wanna believe the 1% that Zero is not Lulu. As so, he tried to denied it. You see, he just a bit shocked when he saw Zero true identity. It is he knew but he chose to not believe that.
