That was probably during the time they were still deciding on the character design. There are tons of pictures with weird coloring from before the anime actually aired, I think they just hadn't made up their minds as to what color they wanted things XD

I love how Lulu has all this "Oh, am I not one sexy black prince" look and it worked while we were in episode 1-5. Afterwards, his Black Prince image is forever tarnished even if he, say, wipes out half the world or something. By the cat. It's awesome.
