| ABOUT |
Surrounded by a magical and mysterious aura, Venetia is the city of light and water, secluded in its own special world. Canals of varying sizes make labyrinths throughout the city, with dainty bridges arching over its waters. Gondolas and other boats line the canals. The architecture of the city is unique and magnificent. Elegantly decorated buildings with intricate designs as well as high towers unite Venetia's majestic scenery. In various parts of the city are gardens, large plazas and squares where many stores and museums are situated. Commanding statues of lions, gargoyles, and other beasts stand guard throughout the city. All this is free for spectators to explore, but there are some buildings in Venetia that the city refuses to give. Their doors locked and windows glazed, it's impossible to penetrate their exterior with your own power alone. They are also protected by stone statues of beasts; if you dare to trespass, their eyes will spark with life, their stone bodies will move, and their claws will unsheathe to protect the secrets of Venetia. (Which are in fact everywhere if you look…) When guests are pulled into the city, they first arrive in a large, luxurious building formerly known as the Houses of Parliament. The rooms are free to stay in, but certain materials such as food run out after being used and inhabitants must wander out in the city to restock. A giant clock that displays the Time of Venetia sits on a tower near it, and it tolls every time a new guest arrives. Other than that, the Parliament House is perhaps the only place that is a near-perfect haven for guests. You are not obliged to stay there if you don't wish, however – the rest of the city is safe enough for the most part… Venetia's other citizens are normal enough. The population is relatively small, and only the squares are somewhat crowded. They work and live like most average people do, but they dislike being interrogated about the city's secrets, and will not answer questions that are too in-depth. And yes, they do have souls of some form. Venetia also has small islands on its outskirts. It's rumored that an elderly gargoyle who was born thousands of years ago during the time of Venetia's birth resides on an island south of the city, among ruins of an ancient building. He is wise and kind, but if you wish to speak with him, you must first pay a price. He will request something, whether its food or sacred paintings. After finding it, give it to him and he will talk, but only for a short amount of time. So make your conversation worthwhile. The Time of Venetia is special. Daylight hours are short, with the sun high only three to four hours each day, disregarding the season. Dawn and dusk are short as well. Night is the time of beauty. The city's lights lit up, illuminating Venetia magnificently. Some places have so much light it could nearly be day. Because it's surrounded by water, around the start of every month is a high tide. Water will flood the sidewalks, and it's best to be inside at the time. Sometimes guests think about leaving. Unfortunately, that is not possible unless they leave by the same means of arriving. For circling Venetia from several miles out to sea is a great waterfall. Its depth is immeasurable, and there is no way to cross. The horizon is merely an endless expanse of water. But why travel all the way out here when you can be in the beautiful City of Light? |
| EVENTS |
Sometimes, magic dust falls over Venetia, and strange things happen. No one will tell you why, but do not fear, for they never last long. It could be something that affects only some, or all. You can call them phenomenon. You can call them curses. But these things aren’t always necessarily bad. Maybe it’ll grant your greatest wish. Or maybe it will cause pain. Either way, there is no escape once the magic envelops you. |
| LIVING in the RP |
Since there is no automatic providing of materials and magical restocking of food, characters need to get materials from the city. Characters are not required to take jobs to make money. They will need money to buy food and whatever else they want, but it can be obtained in different ways. For example, they could grow their own food, they could borrow, they can beg, and they can even steal. Whatever creative idea floats your boat~ If you have a question, just ask! |
