You get far attached to your characters. XD Though I have nowhere to talk. I'm still holding out hope that he's OK since I never got any action between him and Villete. But this is Sunrise and they like going for the throat when it comes to non-main characters.

Karen is just a fanservice cipher, as demonstrated by her becoming a total cliché 'character development' in episode nine. Also, she now has a 'special' mech; her journey to munchkin-dom is complete. *shrug*
