Nope. If you rewatch the scene, he was still wearing his hat while he was taking off the contact. Plus if you zoom in on the image, it's clearly circular like a contact and see-through.

I'll admit that contact is the easiest solution aka no plot twist from C.C. or Rollo or someone else who can make the GEASS magically disappear XD Only one thing though, isn't the contact SEE-THROUGH?

I did rewatch it and made it giganticness to see what you were pointing out. I stand by the rebuttal that its the brim of his hat, which was blue... and hats curve ~ I'm not really doubting the contact idea because unlike in S1 where the Geass would just turn on, you tend to see his hand in front of his eye before it activates now. But that blue thing is his hat.

So are Mao's shades. The point is the property of the lens (i.e. reflecting and refracting light) rather than whether they're see-through or opaque.

Woah, never thought of that. I used to think that because Mao's shades are, you know, shades, then they have the all-powerful-let's-block-the-geass ability. And since I wear contacts myself, it's just hard to believe that those things can block a mind-raping weapon.

Yep, I believe it's a contact, too.
They hinted at it in Animedia in February...that Lulu wears a colored eye contact.
