In general, even an un-edited dub (which 99% of all anime shown on TV in the USA is edited, sometimes HEAVILY) sounds over-acted and cheesey at best. There are a few exceptions here and there, but the fact remains that anime voice acting doesn't pay enough (other than say the rare Miyazaki film) to get big name actors or voice actors that do popular American cartoons. So anime voice actors are generally entirely seperate from American animation voice actors, and have their own 'style' that to many fans (including myself) often sounds unnatural and forced and awkward... generally over-acted. It's become the style of American anime dubs to have that sound, and some people like it, but... eh. *shrug* I'd rather just watch it in Japanese... but I don't like my art - even commercial art like film - edited or altered from the original creator or team's intentions.
