As a friend of littlekuriboh and a YGO fan this makes me facepalm. But I'll probably watch it anyway.

Why? I think it's awesome that the Abridged has spanned into heaps of other anime.

Basically because I'm of the opinion that the original will always be the best. That, and half the the other versions aren't very good. >.>

I do agree that YGO abridged is the best, but I also like a lot of other ones (i love naruto abridged almost as much xD). YGO abridged has inspired all those other abridged series on the net, which is a good thing and makes it epic. (and the other abridged serieses might get better, or you never know somebody out there might make an equally or greater epic abridged series)

*shrugs* I just think that the original outshines the others by a long shot. Most other series build off of only one joke (like the Naruto version's rehashing of the "emo" joke), or of jokes already used by YGO:TAS. Or, even still, they're just not as funny. LK has the uncanny ability to create very humourous dialogue that just doesn't seem to work for other series. Still, I recognize the efforts of the other Abridged Series writers/creators. Kudos to them for giving it a shot.

I have to disagree with that~ YGOA could be accused of building off of only one joke, too, with the whole 'adults playing a children's card game!!!1' thing. I think EVERY abridged series kinda builds off of one joke and then expands from there, ya know? Depending on how its done, it's a hit or miss.

YGOA is, no question, totally awesome. But there are tons of equally as awesome ones, too. I love the Yu Yu Hakusho Abridged series, the Naruto Abridged Series and the Avatar Abridged Series just as much. And I hate that they're always seen as crap in comparison just because they weren't the first ones to do it.

Ahem, anyway... Of course, everyone will have a different opinion on how good they think each individual Abridged series is. I would be the last person to put down someone just because they disagree with me~ And it'd be rather dumb of me to keep repeating my point of view. With jokes used from YGO Abridged, I dunno, they do work sometimes in other abridged series (homages and whatnot). Screw the Rules I have Green Hair would work so well in a Code Geass abridged (your icon is ftw btw).

It's obviously all on preference and whatnot. One of my friends detests Naruto Abridged and another likes it even better than YGO Abridged.

Wow, what the heck? I tried YGO the abridged series, it wasn't that great. Why does everyone revere it so much? o.O

Maybe I feel this way because I watched the Naruto abridged series before I watched the YGO one, so my standards were higher...

But I liked this. It was funny, and nicely done. Which are two things that, in my opinion, the YGO abridged series wasn't.

I'd say the reason the YGO Abridged Series is so popular is because it's the original Abridged Series. It was the first one done, and it's been continuously well done ever since it was created. It tends to draw a lot of fans, even those that aren't as familiar with the YGO fandom as those who had been with the series since the start. littlekuriboh was insipired by the community playthedamncard, and all other series afterwards, for different animes, were inspired by littlekuriboh's creation.

Also, while the series features a lot of memes and such, it's created its own memes (such as the "screw the rules..." or "...in America!" lines). There's a lot of other things that the YGO TAS has brought to both the fandom and the internet in general that would simply take too long to explain in depth. And this is all considering only one guy does practically all the voices, editing, and writing.

Suffice it to say, YGO:TAS has done what a lot of other anime parodies have tried and failed to do. And it's the original that started a whole new genre of parodies.

AHA! I *thought* YGO was the first abridged series, but I wasn't completely sure. I was right about something! Yays. :D

I concede it is amusing, I just didn't think it was worth all the 'this will never be as good as YGO Abridged' comments I kept seeing... EVERYWHERE. It does get credibility for being the first, and it IS amusing, but really. It's kinda like the Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuustu of abridged series'-- I think its loyal followers tend to give it a *smidge* too much credit.

If that makes any sense. I don't think any of my posts make much sense anymore... I seriously need to get more sleep. *yawns*

But first, Code Geass R2 episode 11 just finished downloading, so I'm gonna go watch the raw now. *skips away singing*
