I think it's possibly a Romanizing error, since "m" and "n" are the same character in Japanese (though I believe "n" is the more common one). I could be totally wrong on this, but that's my theory >.>;
For some reason, I get annoyed at the Romanizing on this show, and I'll still forever call "Kallen" Karen >_>
there are different ways to romanize Japanese characters - it depends on what system you use. However I have never seen 'n' and 'm' be seen as the same letter (perhaps you are thinking of 'L' and 'R'?) m has it's own set of characters (ま み む め and も, ma mi mu me and mo respectively) and n has it's own (な に ぬ ね and の, na ni nu ne and no) but L and R are written the same ^_^ It IS a romanizing error, definately, but probably they got the characters m and n mixed up because they look so similar.
As for Kallen....I believe that is supposed to be her "Japanese" name (although I believe 'Karin' is a Japanese name - sounds like "Karen" so I don't know why they didn't just use that lol) because if you look at the student id thingy that came with one of the cd's from season 1, her Britannian name is spelled as Karen. So....maybe "Karen" is her secret identity while "Kallen" is her real name? *shrug*
One example I know of: "senpai" and "sempai" - I think there are a few others. But the only time I've seen it is when it would be just the "n" character used. But I'm no expert of course xD Anyway, thanks.
ahh point taken. I had forgotten about that lol. I looked it up on wikipedia and got this:
Senpai is often seen romanized as "sempai" because it is pronounced that way (the Japanese "n" (ん) is pronounced as "m" when it comes before certain consonant sounds, like "p").
I'm no expert either (obviously lol). It's been a while since I've taken Japanese formally so I'm a little rusty heh. I can't believe I forgot to put down ん on the list I gave though lol Well, thanks for pointing that out to me ^_^

Please tell me it's just an error and not his real name, because it sounds so weird.
