Since I believe it wasn't posted here, I thought I could share it here for you to comment on it ^^
Those of you interested in cosplay sure have heard about the World Cosplay Summit :3 In this year's event, who took place at Nagoya a few weeks ago, the Osaka Team (one of the two Japanese teams) cosplayed as Zero/Lelouch and Suzaku (with what I think are original designs based on Ashford's uniform, Zero's costume and Suzaku's Knight of Rounds attire). They won the 'Brother' Award (interpret it as a kind of 3rd Place or a special award, as you wish XD) with their yaoi-flavoured skit XD

I do not like their costumes, but their skit was the best in my opinion, and you don't need to be a Lelouch/Suzaku fan to appreciate it (one of the girls of the American team said on their common LJ that she hates everything yaoi, and yet found it hot :D)

It was a good skit, but I liked others better (but I found that my favourite ones were the ones everyone found boring, guess I have an impopular opinion ^^u).

Firstly, I disliked the costumes.
Secondly, I did like the skit. (I was going wtf now and then) But I loved the blood and the helmet.
Thirdly, Yaoi... in wcs? wtf
fourthly(whut) lol, how can they win a prize with yaoi and original design costumes?!?
Although everyone says that japan always needs to win a prize during wcs. so meh?
(P.S Going to compete in my country's wcs on saturday... in one day... as CGR2 zero and suzaku.)
Wish us luck? XD jks.

I really liked the moment when the helmet broke, the feathers, the petal-like blood and even though I'm not into yaoi, I must admit their performance was beautiful and artistic. But it just doesn't feel right (at least in my opinion) to compete (and win) with an original design, even though it's true that WCS rules don't say anything about that. Also, the faithfulness to the original series is something very subjective, but in my opinion, they didn't capture the true essence of Geass (but again, being faithful to the series only gives you more points according to the judging process (http://www.tv-aichi.co.jp/wcs/e/preliminary/judge.html), so I assume it's not necessary).
But then again, China was 2nd place with (beautiful and well-crafted nevertheless) videogame-based costumes, which goes indeed against the rules (see #2 (http://www.tv-aichi.co.jp/wcs/e/preliminary/regulation.html)) as far as I know, so... ^^u

Same, the helmet breaking and blood was my favourite, and although I'm a huge yaoi fan, it just didn't feel right.
(I'm not really a fan of people making out on stage during skits)
I don't think original costumes should be allowed at all, those original costumes were pretty poor in design and didn't even really reflect the two characters. If all we saw was a picture of them, any geass fan would say... 'is.. is that the ashford uniform?'. Because thats the only geass-like piece in it.
Wish they'd crack down on the rules >_< Its really quite silly to allow originals and game designs to win(especially if the rules say no game designs)
