Zero requiem is practically Lelouch geassing the world so they would have hope and Zero (Suzaku) would be that hope.
Zero then have to kill Lelouch, the demon emperor so the world could have freedom (after it's been united by Lelouch). Practically Lelouch is sacrificing himself here.

Kallen and Nunnally realized what Lelouch and Suzaku were trying to do in the end.
