In R2 24 Lelouch had these three characters do something called 'Apate Aletheia'--the Greek personifications of deception and of truth. The Apate stage was giving the UFN leadership back, presumably to either lull Schneizel or just to get Kaguya, Tianzi et al. out of danger.

So what was the Aletheia stage? Was it just to be out of Lelouch's business so that they wouldn't die in the crossfire of Zero Requiem?

hopefully it's not the fangirl in me speaking but i'd like to think that lelouch was trying to keep everyone's wellbeing and survival in mind and imprisoned them in the same way he staged the execution of his former allies to keep them from going down with him. in the end those three (plus nina) were the closest to him (next to c.c. and suzaku of course) and helped him attain his victory over the damocles in some way so they ran a high risk of being punished. although how orenji-kun got out of that escapes me D: (leave it to sunrise, eeesh...)

I get the feeling that Orange-kun is so loyal that he'd have none of it, he doesn't want his master to save him, if his master is going down then he will go down as well. Or if he defects no one would believe him anyway. All in all Lelouch still needs someone to 'defend' him from 'Zero' in the parade.
