What draws you to Geass?

Why yes we are a poll. And yes I do live here. After reading something verity_isle said about people watching Geass for the lulz only and following most of the anime blogs, I asked myself why I watch Geass. I realized the answer has changed from the time I started watching the series to just after the Mao arc, when Geass suddenly became my *show* as I once viewed my other fave Naruto. So as usual, I have two questions to pose:


1. Why did you originally start watching Geass? When might be cool to know too since I know we have people here since October and others who recently marathoned the whole thing. It seems to me when a person started watching Geass partially determines the why.

2. Why do you stick with Geass AKA what do you love about it?


For me, I started with Geass sheerly because 1.)it was Clamp, 2.)Lelouch looks like Kamui and 3.)I love Kamui no matter what hell he puts me through. I did originally just watch it for the WTFery, although I always adored Lelouch. Now I admit I'm into the political intrigue and just how Lelouch is going to screw himself deal with things next. I might add more to this later but I'd rather hear some others first.

1. Since the first ep. It was the anime I have been wanting to watch, because I've heard of it since May/June when someone on my flist announced a "Sunrise mecha anime with chara desgins by CLAMP" (and I did think Lulu is like Kamui, who's my fave X character because I like ukes) so I've been waiting for October when it airs. I still remember there were only 22 people in this comm when I joined. XD

2. I like mecha anime in general (because despite being a girl, I'm not very much into romance and stuff) so I love the battles and some of the characters of course. And even though Lulu is my fave, I'm waiting for him to screw up again. I like my favourite characters getting pwned. ~_~;

I share your general amusement with favorite characters getting pwned. I like how Lelouch manages to balance his victories with his emasculating defeats.

And randomly, back when when the title of the anime was only in Japanese, my friends and I thought that it would be called Code Gears. XD I don't know why they called it "Geass" though, because wasn't the right spelling in mythology "Geas"?

Sadly we never get enough bloody Lelouch because he stays in his mech. ;_; But that's what the Japanese fanart is for.

Yeah geas is the correct spelling. I remember finding about this the hard way when someone on my FL bitched about how people thought geass was a made-up term and then pointed out the whole spell/vow thing. I think sometimes the companies like to be creative in their spelling.

I know. When I first read the rumours where he was supposedly injured badly, I was all "YESSSSSSS!" It turned out to be a disappointment. XD Initially, I thought it was gonna be so bad that he wouldn't be able to move for a few episodes.

Some people on my flist were like, "I hate the extra S! It's like 'ass'!" XD Me, I still wanted "Gears" lol.
