Why yes we are a poll. And yes I do live here. After reading something
verity_isle said about people watching Geass for the lulz only and following most of the anime blogs, I asked myself why I watch Geass. I realized the answer has changed from the time I started watching the series to just after the Mao arc, when Geass suddenly became my *show* as I once viewed my other fave Naruto. So as usual, I have two questions to pose:
1. Why did you originally start watching Geass? When might be cool to know too since I know we have people here since October and others who recently marathoned the whole thing. It seems to me when a person started watching Geass partially determines the why.
2. Why do you stick with Geass AKA what do you love about it?
For me, I started with Geass sheerly because 1.)it was Clamp, 2.)Lelouch looks like Kamui and 3.)I love Kamui no matter what hell he puts me through. I did originally just watch it for the WTFery, although I always adored Lelouch. Now I admit I'm into the political intrigue and just how Lelouch is going toscrew himself deal with things next. I might add more to this later but I'd rather hear some others first.

In December or January, can't remember which.
2. Why do you stick with Geass AKA what do you love about it?
I first got into it because a lot of people who liked similar animes/mangas to me also like Geass, wiki-ing it, it looked interesting. Then, I found it was CLAMP, and knew I had to watch it.
I stuck with it because I enjoyed the plot, as you mentioned I like the political aspects of it; the characters: mostly Lloyd, Lelouch, and
Syaoran; no KiraSuzaku. I also like the art.(no subject)
btw... dragonsquee.. at the official sites had that image. It's small, but since the CD is not released, that will do.

#2 I love the action..its midnight time slot not allowing a drawn-out story to prevent audience from dropping dead, the action is super fast-paced. I couldn't help but be drawn as well. And the story is great. And I developed a liking for anti-heroes lately; I've grown sick of romanticized main characters..and a lot more reasons..

because I like ukes) so I've been waiting for October when it airs. I still remember there were only 22 people in this comm when I joined. XD2. I like mecha anime in general (because despite being a girl, I'm not very much into romance and stuff) so I love the battles and some of the characters of course. And even though Lulu is my fave, I'm waiting for him to screw up again. I like my favourite characters getting pwned. ~_~;

2) I really love the whole protagonist is the antagonist deal (such as it is in Death Note); of all the series I've read/seen, Code Geass is one of the very few where I really adore the lead character. I also love strong female leads.

I was curious. In one and only forum I'm active on, I saw one of the users' sig and I ask her from which anime the sig is. Then she launched into a fangirl mode, explaining how great Lulu is, even uploading me the first episode of Geass by gg. But I think no further persuasion was needed since when I read that CLAMP's in charge of the characters design, I know this anime is very worth-watching :) anything's done by CLAMP is awesome, period.
2. Why do you stick with Geass AKA what do you love about it?
I want to see how they 'the creators' will end this anime. Or perhaps I just love seeing Lulu screwing things up. Because the higher someone's goal is the riskier things will get ^^ he might even be put in a condition worse than death. I ♥ main character torture XD *worships X 1999*

2) I like the characters ALOT and the plotline is very complicated and interesting. This is a big reason why stay on. There are several other anime that were running at the same time that I have since dropped because the plots were mediocre and very typical shounen. CG isn't boring at all...it's quite a refreshing series in a sea of boring shows (Death Note being the other exception of course, but that wasn't a surprise since I read the manga).
LOL. The first time I saw designs for Lulu I was like "WTF...Kamui?!?!" In the pic I saw he even had a cape like Kamui does in the beginning of X. But that's where the similarity ends pretty much. I love Lulu though, he's so silly and overdramatic sometimes it's hilarious.

When I first saw Lelouch, I laughed long and hard and said it was like Clamp transported Tsubasa's Vamp!Kamui into Gundam. I think the names cracked me up too, especially Suzaku's.

When it started airing. I forgot when. :D
2. Why do you stick with Geass AKA what do you love about it?
I actually came close to dropping it. I was getting so bored with it. Then episode 14 came (was it 14?) and I was addicted again. I love the random twists and the (sometimes) cornyness of the show. Plus the cheese. Little things like that are interesting. I'm scared the fans of this show will drive me away though. D:

So I finally settled down and watched the first episode, and my worries grew. "Oh God no, the scene immediately reminded me of the first ep of SEED!". However, all of my worries went away as I finally kept watching. "Hey, this show is looking good."
Now, this leads to my second reason. Two words: Lelouch Lamperouge.
That character intrigued me and got me very interested in him. He's a cocky guy who plays chess and is very smart! Also a tad on the snarky side. Good for him! Alright, so he does have angst, but not on the "emo wuss 24/7" like I expected. Lelouch has the power to manipulate people through mind control, which got me hooked. Even more so, this guy is a villainous main character. UNF! He also has bouts of dorkiness in him as the result of taking himself way too seriously and shit. Plus, he has an admirable side underneath it all.
So yeah, the last scene of episode one and the rest of episode two? My first thought: "Lelouch, you're officially my favorite character!" (Thus I created
2) Why do I stick to Code Geass? Lelouch is still among my many reasons to keep watching Geass, but not the only one. I loved the political intrigue, the whole Britannian Empire vs Japan, the animation, the character designs, and what-not. Also, I liked the characters.

2) To be honest, the main answer to this question is going to be the same for almost anything I follow: for the characters. I find Geass's cast really engaging. That said, I also want to see how all the political intrigue and mystery resolves itself.
(no subject)
Well, I saw
Why do you stick wih Geass AKA what do you love about it?
I just find it's story very solid and easy to follow. The characters are very easy to relate to/understand and the art is good. But yes, I mostly watch it for the lulz and what other funny "philosophical" essays the fans put out about this animu.
(no subject)
2. Why do I stick with it? I always watch series mainly for the characters, and I like a lot of characters in Code Geass. True, Suzaku can piss the hell outta me sometimes, but I've still got Lulu, Lloyd, Kallen, CC, and Lulu. And Lulu. Can't forget Lulu. I thought he was such an interesting character, I had to love him. Maybe he's even more interesting to me since I haven't read/watched Death Note. Or Gundam Seed.
(no subject)
2) THE ANIMATION QUALITY! Seriously, having good animation for a series really helps me enjoy it a lot. The quality is pretty much constant through out the past 19 episodes and that keeps me happy. I think the characters are all really interesting. I like to hate/make fun of Lulu and Suzaku, but they keep me interested and enjoying the episodes they're in. Of course the randomness sometimes with Cheese-kun, Mao and Pizza Hut brings the lulz. And Lloyd's hot voice is A+++!
As long as they don't start killing off random characters or just fuck something up, I can't find myself having anything but love and lulz for Geass.

You can't helped loling at a series that worships Pizza Hut and canonically dresses its characters as cats.

2. To put it simply: Lelouch.
(no subject)
I originally just was all poking around at the anime blogs, telling myself, "One day, you are going to watch this series!". Sadly I kept forgetting about it until a friend of mine uploaded the first two episodes to her webspace, which I downloaded and watched.
SAFE TO SAY. I fell in love with
Lelouchthe series. I marathoned all that was out at the time and just went nuts and ended up playing Lelouch using this journal at2. Why do you stick with Geass AKA what do you love about it?
I just... well, I love everything about the series. The mech fights, the plot twists, the chracters and their designs (well save a few odd ducks). But my main driving force to keep coming back is Lelouch. He just plays out things a good deal differently than the normal 'main' character. I'm always eager to see what he's going to do next, and how he plans to pull it off.
So yeah, it's Lulu that keeps me interested. Him and his interactions with everyone else~ Oh. Also Lloyd. It always make me happy to see him having screen time. :D
OH I FORGOT. Also the ridiculous plot twists they throw like curve balls. You can expect one thing than the plot takes a sharp left in the opposite direction and makes me go "WAIT WHAT" or just make a O.O face as it happens. That kind of stuff always keeps me coming back in a series.

2. I love Britannia. I'm not much of a Lulu fan, and it was only with episode 19 that I stopped actuallly disliking him. I keep watching the series for the Britannians still. It's definitely those characters that keep me interested, and I want to see what happens to them (for some reason, they're more dynamic to me than the Black Knights. Aside from Lulu and Karen, there's no one goofy like Lloyd, sweet like Euphie, and "LOL KICK YOU IN THE FACE" like Cornelia). Sure, there may not be anything stunningly original about what's going on, but it's good entertainment.

2. Why do you stick with Geass AKA what do you love about it? I really love CLAMPness so the animation of Code Geass is really making me stick with it. ARGHSOPRETTY! I'm also rooting for Lelouch to put Brittania in its place. Show them who's boss, Lelouch! Oh yeah . . . Suzaku and Lelouch's tragic story kills me--and I'm a complete masochist. Although, I am waiting for their fairytale happy ending!! *is hopeful* Right . . . ;_;
(no subject)
Why indeed? XD It was a mecha series from Sunrise and it had the added bonus of character designs from CLAMP. I was intrigued to see how well both will work together. It was also the promo scan of Lelouch in a cape, overlooking his shoulder that cinch it for me. He reminded me Kira Yamato, only much more smirkier than Kira.
2. Why do you stick with Geass AKA what do you love about it?
The Knightmares, of course. Why else would I stick with it? XD And of course the characters. I want to see more of their developments. What I love is just how vibrant the colours in each episode are. I've never seen such bright colours since Zegapain.
(no subject)
Same reason; CLAMP CLAMP CLAMP. XD The Kamui-design drew me in, and I love characters with black hair. We need more of them! Honestly, I was not AT ALL interested in the mecha aspect and was even considering not giving it a try... but Code Geass turned out to be really, really good. Code Geass got me interested in Sunrise, and that was why I tried Gundam SEED, which has now become one of my fav. series. So I thank CG for indirectly introducing me to the Gundam world, which didn't even give a chance before. &hearts
(I started CG in October, stopped, and am now continuing again.)
2. Why do you stick with Geass AKA what do you love about it?
Lelouch. I want to find out if Lulu will lose. I hope not. ;O; My favorite scenes are when they're at school and just hanging out. I focus on character interactions rather than battles, which are cool too, though. Very clever.
(no subject)
I read about it on my friend's blog, and the title, especially the word 'rebellion' drew me in. XD Unlike the majority here though, I know nothing whatsoever about CLAMP designs (maybe because I don't read manga much). I don't remember when I began watching it, but it was slightly after the time it began airing.
2. Why do you stick with Geass AKA what do you love about it?
Lelouch, and the plot twists. You have to say Lelouch is a very interesting character. I like that the main character's not some stereotypical angsty kid, and I like seeing him plan and plot his way to his goal. I can't wait to see if the rebellion will be a successful one...
(no subject)
1) It's all in the title. I love strategists, and I love realistic leader roles. Upon reading Memento (http://www.designchronicle.com/memento)'s comments that the main character is one and should be on his way to becoming the other, I picked it up. I was almost immediately sold. (This is around episode 2, but my gut feeling said it's not going to be like random shounen. It's got good judgment most of the time) Then I found out it's by one of my favourite directors lol.
2) There are about 3 phases for this. Phase 1 (Episode 2-6) was mainly because it's so new and shiny and the Geass is conventional and everything was possible, since the plot hadn't got a definite direction yet. I was very infatuated at this phase. Phase 2 (Episode 7-15, not counting 14 because it pwns) I watched mainly for Lelouch, who's became a fascinating, multifaceted character at this point. The plot was not good not bad, though individual episodes were another story. Suzaku was interesting and enjoyable, but he didn't get enough screentime, and he didn't pwn enough to float the show. Phase 3 (Episode 16-19) is mostly because the plot is starting to get awesome and while Lelouch still pwns, the rest of the cast's catching up with him.

Though I like the battle scenes as much as anyone else, I find myself liking the school scenes the best. There are complaints about how those scenes contrast so sharply with the war segments that they're ridiculous, but that's why I like them. I need moments of light-heartedness and random character interaction to slow down the fast pace of the series (though with more identites being revealed, it seems like the light-heartedness might start dying away).
(Pardon me for sounding like a n00b, but is it possible to edit comments?! I can't find a button or anything.)

As for the last, no. LJ kinda sucks that way. You can always delete and retype or reply to your own comment to clarify things, though!

2- I'm totally into the story and the characters and the everything of the show! I can't really find a reason to not anticipate the next episode. Even is Suzaku is just a giant Marty-Stu. :D
