Geass.jp has updated with news on their new project that they've begun working on. It looks like there will be more information released in the summer.

If someone can translate any other new information, that'd be great.

And here's the Code Geass article in Newtype 6.

And once more, Google Translate demonstrates it's suckitude.

The only (coherent) things of interest I could find on that webpage was that Boukoku no Akito is only a tentative title, and might change, and from the Taniguchi & Okuichi comments that though there were a lot of calls for a sequel, they decided to go with "expansion" instead of a continuation.

Oh, and that there may be more "expansion" in the future, so fans should stay tuned.

Someone who can actually read Japanese ought to take a proper look. And at the Taniguchi interview in the scan.

I think a Code Geass without its original characters isn't Code Geass. Instead of a sequel or expansion, I'd rather have backstory. And not that timeskipping with Goro Taniguchi crap either, real backstory not "fan" fic.

Is the metal arm dude Lelouch's proxy in that Edo era manga or what?

I hope this side story retains at least some of the original main cast. I really couldn't care less about all the irrelevant Elevens even in the original anime, let alone about a whole new set of them.

Personally, I'm happy with there not being a sequel or back story. As much as I'll miss the characters, that story is over and if they try to expand on it at all I think they'd ruin it.

Bring on the new series, I'm ready for a new story and set of characters to love just as much as the original.

I really have mixed feelings about it. I'm going to really try and take it as a completely different series though...

Nope. I think it's starting to deviate from the original style in a disturbing way at this point.
Date/Time: 2010-05-10 20:16 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] kusaja.livejournal.com
Well...it's the exact same art style used for the Nightmare of Nunnally manga, which was apparently the most popular one.

It hurts to look at.

I wasn't thinking that myself, but I suppose some of the other commentators might have.

It makes me think of Nightmare of Nunnally.

Well, it's the same artist, though a different writer.

Uh, Renya isn't AU.
Date/Time: 2010-05-11 02:08 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] rainbow-cnxn.livejournal.com
But Renya is written by Taniguchi (albeit drawn by the NoN mangaka).
Date/Time: 2010-05-11 02:26 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] rainbow-cnxn.livejournal.com
...but Code Geass is Taniguchi's brainchild, and he (along with Okouchi) is credited with the Original Story. I can't disregard his creative contribution, and if he says that the manga's in the anime's timeline, I pay heed.

I mean, if you're gonna say that he wasn't the lead writer, neither was Tomino in Gundam's UC franchise. And despite 0079, Zeta, etc. all having different writers, they are definitely all considered within the UC canon due to the unity of setting, as well as having Tomino as the director.

Well, I just replied because it seems like your definition of "canon" is a bit different than what most people would probably consider "canon". I just wanted to jump in and interject when you said "not necessarily canon to the anime" when it's specifically been said to be "in the same official Code Geass history as the anime, but in a different era". I don't intend to knock your interpretation, but it gets confusing to readers if you say that without qualifying what you mean by "canon".

lol no thank you.

No really.

nobody ruins Lulu for me like canon
Date/Time: 2010-05-10 20:55 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] spiralis.livejournal.com
I guess I might be one of the few people really, really confused about this.

What the crap is going on?
Date/Time: 2010-05-10 21:14 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] spiralis.livejournal.com
I knew there were new projects at work. I just thought one of them took place in the past for some reason. 8|a
Date/Time: 2010-05-10 22:56 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] cr-balmung.livejournal.com
Shikkoku no Renya is placed in the Edo period, so it is in the past. You were not crazy thinking that lol.
Date/Time: 2010-05-10 22:57 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] cr-balmung.livejournal.com
I'd also like to ask what is lelouch doing in the manga, Shikkoku no Renya if it was in the Edo period?
Date/Time: 2010-05-10 23:31 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] kusaja.livejournal.com
That's one of the possibilities making the rounds, to be honest, but keep in mind he's not confirmed to be a part of that project either.

Now, I know people are going crazy because they see Lelouch in this scan, but promotional pictures are meant to do just that: hype people up regardless of what the actual content of the article is saying. Countless pictures that mean nothing have been published in these magazines before.

Don't fall for what might just be a tease. In fact, in last month's Newtype there was a rhetorical question suggesting Lelouchs was in the new Code Geass Gaiden anime project, but it turns out that doesn't seem to be the case. Lots of stuff like that has showed up before too.

In other words....wait until the manga goes on sale, which is going to happen soon enough.
Date/Time: 2010-05-11 23:28 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] rozenheim.livejournal.com
true enough...but don't you think that they've already got the main idea? since they've announced that they would release the first manga/chapter on may 26th? O: or am i mistaking may 26th with another code geass project?
Date/Time: 2010-05-11 23:26 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] rozenheim.livejournal.com
I think they shouldnt be calling it code geass...since code geass basically means c.c, lelouch, suzaku, knightmares, geass. From what ive heard of this manga, only c.c and geass are in it...i dont care if they put a lelouch-alias or suzaku-alias...i want the REAL lelouch...nobody messes with lelouch >o! if they screw this up, i'm slry gonna bomb clamp up! :D
Date/Time: 2010-05-15 16:46 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] kohikki.livejournal.com
...CLAMP has nothing to do with this manga.
