Geass.jp has updated with news on their new project that they've begun working on. It looks like there will be more information released in the summer.

If someone can translate any other new information, that'd be great.

And here's the Code Geass article in Newtype 6.

Uh, Renya isn't AU.

But Renya is written by Taniguchi (albeit drawn by the NoN mangaka).

...but Code Geass is Taniguchi's brainchild, and he (along with Okouchi) is credited with the Original Story. I can't disregard his creative contribution, and if he says that the manga's in the anime's timeline, I pay heed.

I mean, if you're gonna say that he wasn't the lead writer, neither was Tomino in Gundam's UC franchise. And despite 0079, Zeta, etc. all having different writers, they are definitely all considered within the UC canon due to the unity of setting, as well as having Tomino as the director.

Well, I just replied because it seems like your definition of "canon" is a bit different than what most people would probably consider "canon". I just wanted to jump in and interject when you said "not necessarily canon to the anime" when it's specifically been said to be "in the same official Code Geass history as the anime, but in a different era". I don't intend to knock your interpretation, but it gets confusing to readers if you say that without qualifying what you mean by "canon".
