This is actually the script to the first half of my possible Lelouch/Suzaku doujinshi in the making. I wasn't planning on posting it anywhere but I would really like feedback for the Suzaku-side of the story, so I'm posting this.

I would like to know if you feel it's more suitable in this story/doujnshi for Lelouch's feelings (at least in this case) to be more or less one-sided. If it should end with requited or unrequited feelings, so to say. Let me know how you feel about this piece or even the pairing in general.

Any sort of feedback would be lovely, thanks in advance (*A*

ANYWAY:

[title] untitled
[author] myself
[wordcount] 418
[pairing/rating] Lelouch -> Suzaku (?) / PG
[notes/warnings] A bit cliché and kind of emo X_x; I don't write much, and it's a bit choppy and all over the place and more image-y to help me remember visuals, because it's actually a script/outline for a doujinshi, but I hope it flows well enough for readers to get the gist of it.

xposted to [livejournal.com profile] suzalulu, sorry to those of you seeing doubles!

Sometimes Lelouch wakes up before the sun crawls over the city, with lead in his blood and his heart in his head, pounding away like a stampede.

He wakes up thinking of Suzaku, and it actually, physically hurts; so much that he almost thinks he could cry. And there will almost always be half a dozen of little half-moons on his chest where he clutches with both hands until he bleeds, never knowing or questioning why; and never daring to question why he doesn’t question why.

On mornings where they actually arrive to school on time, Suzaku would sometimes catch him in the schoolyard, with the sun in his eyes and a dagger in his back.

“Lelouch,” Suzaku would say to him, “Long time no see.”

And then Suzaku would smile, and it would suddenly make Lelouch angry, and Lelouch would want to break his nose, knowing that he’d never have the strength to really do it.

“Quite,” Lelouch would say, then, in his mind, I clearly remember I saw you yesterday, when you were that ridiculous white cavalier.

And then they would have dinner together, and everything would be all right until they meet again under stars and smoke, disguised as princes made of words and knights made of steel.

There is no way back, Lelouch tells himself, there is no way out. And there is nowhere to stop and lament about anything any more.

He thinks of Suzaku’s hands, calloused and gentle, pulling him up and over hilltops and tree branches when his thin boy-arms don’t support his body; and he thinks of how those hands have touched his cheek, just under his eye, to calm him when he didn’t know he needed calming; and he thinks of how those hands would never hoist him out of tight spots and hard places again, and he laughs at himself.

Good, he tells himself, watching CC sleep on the bed that he hasn’t slept in for weeks, perfect. This way it’s easier to part with him, anyway. But when he wakes up to watch the sunrise flush the city red and purple, he thinks he might actually have tears somewhere inside his system, and it’s Suzaku that’s on his mind.

It isn’t love.

Lelouch knows this because if it were—if it were, he should have killed Suzaku; let him die the death he desired but did not deserve. It isn’t love, because Lelouch knows if he loved him, he would have let him go.

(it isn’t love.)

need to get the hang of them before attempting to draw a story (x_x

I agree with the first comment on SuzaLulu comm, I get the feeling of one-sidedness in canon, that is Lelouch needing Suzaku more than vice versa. And do I get the feeling that Lelouch is convincing himself that it's not love? ^^

On your sketches - best Code Geass fanart I've seen yet outside the J-fandom (and here I'm keeping myself from flailing around). Definitely looking forward to the finished work. Have you drawn/released doujinshi before? Your website is in Japanese...

Word. This is evidently drawn by someone who knows how to draw, not just do anime drawings. The lines and construction especially. Looking forward to the finished work. Sorry I can't offer much concrit on the fic.

Don't worry, I'm actually more of an artist so to speak too and I personally am quite flattered when people tell me my drawings look like good drawings in their own right and not just as anime drawings. I honestly felt that way with your stuff. It was good enough for me to go look at some of your other work, and it ended up not being a surprise that you've dabbled in the Japanese fandom. The colouring style and presentation of your works reminded me very much of some Japanese artists and it isn't something I see a lot in English fandom. I happen to like it very much.

Sorry I'm posting as anonymous, I'm just a bit of a chicken in posting with my real account on LJ. Anyway, I'll disappear now - see you around hopefully when you post the full version. I hope all these comments will encourage you ^^

Apologies for chiding in, but... Since you say you don't normally dabble in anime fandoms, where would you be in the case of no Code Geass? Do you draw semi-realistic normally and hence the correct proportions/anatomy/etc?

Who was your influence/hero? =D Every animanga-style artist had one or more. My very first one was Riyoko Ikeda of Berubara fame. Okay, that was an embarrassing phase LOL but I was six! XDDD.

The sketches are amazing, brilliant, godihateyouforyourskills worthy, but since you've heard that a billion times, I wanna say that the storyline was actually written really well too. It could pass as a drabble if you wanted to keep it that way; I love the way Lelouch thinks, and though none of us will ever quite understand what's going on in that crazy little head of his (and I'm not sure we really want to), you got extremely close. It was descriptive and insightful, and the last few lines made me do a little dance in my chair.

because really, repeating things means deniaaaal~

Great job, on the story and the sketches!

gwah!
you should write more fics!! The angst just ate me alive.
And no worries! It flows really smoothlyyy.

I can't remember if I have commented on the illustrations already, but I will say it (again?) anyway: they are bloody gorgeous.

Oh man, that sketch of Suzaku pulling on his pilot suit collar pure heat right there. And I love the sublime anatomy of Lelouch in that final sketch. I never really picture Lelouch as with a sexy body due to his gangly, scrawny build, but you've brought out the real beauty in his physique. Yet it's still very much in synch with his design. I have to say your Lelouch is every bit as sexy as Suzaku, and there's very few J-artists I can say pull that off.

As for your fiction, as [livejournal.com profile] runesque said before me, I adore when people work on the notion that Lelouch's fixating on the SuzaLulu relationship is stronger that from Suzaku's side. I like it because it's true to what we see in the series, where Lelouch is willing to take risks he would not normally take for Suzaku's sake and where Suzaku's word/response can affect him more deeply than virtually anything else. If that's not love, I don't know what is, be it sexual or nay. I don't see many writers who can handle Lelouch's perspective or thought process, but you've managed to do it in such a way that it flows and could be easily rationalized within the storyline itself. I am a canon whore so I appreciate anyone who can stay that close to the source material. I especially love your closing lines. It's something I often reflected on myself after Lelouch asserted his true power over Suzaku in deciding whether Suzaku would choose to live or die through the use of the Geass. I hope to see more of your writing in the future.

Word!! XD Suzaku *is* sexy, especially in that one sketch! I agree also about the build. Too bad we seldom see the results of his military training in the show. The boy needs to shed his clothes more often.

I love leaving long comments because it helps me wrap my brain around the fanworks and enjoy them to their fullest. I agree with you about how the fanartists forget the Suzaku is warrior-built and tend to make him lithe like Lelouch to match up. I like brawny Suzaku; it's very out of synch with Clamp's usual style, and it makes him one fine piece of eye-candy.

Heh then your way of thinking is right up my alley. I'm cool with crack, but I have the utmost respect for writers who try to work within canon.

The sketches are really wonderful!
I loved the fic too. I'm not really a SuzaLulu supporter, but I liked very much the ending part: "Lelouch knows this because if it were—if it were, he should have killed Suzaku; let him die the death he desired but did not deserve. It isn’t love, because Lelouch knows if he loved him, he would have let him go." It's a beautiful thought and it's something that Lelouch could really feel.
Also, I liked the words you used, I found the piece very poetic too.
(Sorry for the horrible english, it's not my native language! ç_ç)
