Just out of curiosity, but THIS ARTICLE refers to the upcoming season as the second series... is it just a misnomer, or are they actually specifying it's a second series?

That's really interesting because in the previous article (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2007-12-06/new-code-geass-tv-series-confirmed-for-spring-2008) that was confirming the article airing in 08, they also refer to it as a new series. Odd how no one caught that then also.

Even though they call it a new/secondseries I think they're just referring to sequel... or second season... I don't think it's anything big to fret about.

*lurks*

In a lot of countries, the terms "season" and "series" are used interchangeably, or the word "season" isn't used at all (in the context of TV).

I know ANN is an American website, but I wouldn't draw any conclusions from it.

The terms are more or less interchangeable in Japan. It doesn't really mean anything, except that there might be a minor change to the title.

Technically, a TV season in Japan is the entire year.

THAT'S RIGHT, THEY NEVER STOP PRODUCING FOR AN ENTIRE YEAR.

Every other country is just lazy...

So, this would be a 2nd series by technicality, since I'm sure it won't be called Lelouch of the Rebellion anymore (he had his rebellion!).
