and it will be Gundam 00, btw.

But who knows...CG is popular enough maybe they will just do a double up.

I also think there was possibly a delay one week with original Seed, but I can't remember now.

There is a rumor floating around AnimeSuki that the last episode will be cut completely and that Taniguchi will have to shorten the series to 24 episodes. Apparently because CG R2 is receiving really poor ratings. But I'm a bit more skeptical about that one. Ayakashi ayashi was cut short after poor ratings, but CG is way more popular then that show (at least as far as DVD sales go). Can't imagine they'd screw up CG when they know that despite poor ratings it'll rake in more money with DVD sales.

I just remember there were all those rumors about one of the earlier episodes, I want to say 3 or 4, being cut or re-edited and it all just turned out to be rumors.
I think they're more likely to try to double up or delay then just squish it in once Gundam 00 has started up again. I want to say in the past there was usually a week or so anime would take off for various holidays, and they're more likely to squish Geass in there or maybe skip on the re-cap episode. ^^;

I don't think there's anything wrong with how R2 has been progressing so far. It's just not really a family-friendly general interest program.

I know previously someone posted that the Sunday afternoon slot was a "bad" time slot and a kiss of death for an anime. Your post makes it sound like it is a "good" slot, but for more family friendly anime. I'd really like to know which it is. ^^;
So for R1 were the ratings great for an anime airing at 1:30 am on a week night, or were they as high as say Gundam Seed or FMA or Get Backers with their former Saturday afternoon time slots?
I guess what I really want to know is, are the ratings for R2 bad for its time slot or bad compared to what they were for R1 or both or is there no real way of knowing?
BTW I saw on another of your posts about how on 6/1 it seems they're airing a re-cap episode, rather than no episode. Between episodes 8+9 was where the first R1 re-cap episode was so perhaps the fact we are getting a re-cap on 6/1 doesn't actually mean anything. ^^;

Sunday afternoons have things like news, sports, and sometimes family shows. Children-oriented anime (Doraemon or something, maybe) wouldn't be out of place there (though I believe most of those are weekend mornings), but a teen/young adult series is a little out of the usual demographic. A late night anime can expect an average rating from 1% to 5% or so, whereas a mainstream program generally gets closer to 10%. I can get more detailed numbers later but I will resist surfing 2-chan at work right now ^^;
The original run wasn't as popular as Gundam Seed, certainly, but was quite respectable for a late night anime and sold a lot of DVDs and merchandise. It's a little too early to tell how R2 is doing in that department since the DVDs aren't out yet and there's the additional complication of people maybe waiting for Blu-Ray instead.
I admit to not really remembering whether the season 1 recap episodes were planned or not. This new one definitely wasn't (some of the TV magazines didn't get time to change the information, even), which worries me a little. The actual causes and eventual effects are just speculation right now, so we'll just have to hope for the best. I just hope they don't do weird things to the plot or have a drastic drop in production values because of the ratings.

Don't get me wrong, I am certainly not complaining about the way they do things or even really mind the delay, I just hope it is a one-time delay rather than being a sign of further difficulties.

Late night anime typically don't get high ratings. But CG's ratings for the slot were pretty decent for the time slot. They were not anywhere near what old doroku slot shows like GS/D get. For instance...GS/D might get around 5.0, but CG in late night gets 2.5 or something like that. CG in this new slot is getting around 2.25, which is pretty awful. Though I'm not sure what the typical ratings are for other shows in that time slot, so I can't say whether it's typical or not. All I know is it's certainly not anything like doroku, which is what they wished for.
