We all know that they have some sort back-story behind them. What is it, exactly?

I know this sound a bit strange, but I've been aching to discuss this really bad. Shall we?

Soooo, both Charlie and candy boy gained their Geass (Geasses?) from V.V.

I obviously think it's fair to say that Charles received it first, and when he was reasonably young too (a long time ago) considering that he calls Fivehead “nii-san”. Rolo apparently got his many, many years later, and a very young age as well (they showed him killing expertly at six; they must have been training the kid before).

One of my main questions is as to why Rolo recived a Geass.

V.V, at the time, still had his dear Charles at his side, whom was thriving at the throne, and had no need for any more contractors. So, this leads me to believe that Charles influenced who V.V. handed out a contract to. But why Rolo?

The most likely scenario is that he was just a Britannian orphan they picked up off the street and went, “Dude, let's make him an epic assassin lol.”, so they gave him a Geass.

I had almost thought for a few moments that Rolo might actually be the son of the Emperor (that would make LelouchxRolo incest for real, lawl) whom was birthed from a wife he had sometime between the birth of Lelouch and Nunally, but I immediately dismissed the idea because it would be all like, “What? Where was he during their whole childhood? They should have at least known he existed.” Well, Charles could have been horrified with his son's defenseless dewy-eyed uke-ness, so he sent him away for training with a Geass, so Rolo could one day become a knife-wielding, unfeeling, hardcore shota.

Since I think it's pretty clear that he (may) not be Charles's kid (Sunrise does have a way with making everyone related somehow, though), just dumping such a sacred power on a random little kid would be kinda strange, right? Even for the sake of assassination? If Rolo has one, and is working for the throne, it makes me wonder whether or not there are other Geass assassins, or if Rolo is the only one. Don't you think if there were other Geass assassins, they would all have to have something... I don't know, special?

Either way, it still brings me back to the question: Why did V.V/The Emperor desire to give Rolo a Geass?

Lkdjkljdsjkgdsf; this is so confusing, I hope the above post made some sort of sense. Your opinions?

Also, do you ever get that feeling that you just didn't do enough research, and the answer is really obvious, and you just know you'll feel REALLY stupid when someone points it out?

Also, first post-thing in comm. Hi guys. 8D

The whole thing with Rolo... I'd love it if he turns out to be Nunally's twin, which will then make him Lulu's real brother. I wouldn't be surprised if the Emperor plans to use this fact against Lulu in the future, probably to create another tragedy amongst the existing ones. He could have been taken away from the family from birth, used as a guinea pig, brainwashed and programmed and then given the power of Geass to benefit Charles and V.V. It's not been made clear what Charles had done to fulfill his contract.

Considering the sibling relationship does exist, it could have been V.V who convinced Charles to use Rolo and not the other way around.

Putting the sibling possibilities aside, maybe Rolo is one of the children used for Geass experimentation, who actually made it out alive. Or for something even more twisted, Rolo could be the child of the victim (or victims) of some Geass experiments. What if they were studying how much better a child would be at controlling his Geass if his parental units were Geass contractors as well?

Twisted, I know ~_~ Oh the poor boy...

As for V.V and Charles...

From the way things look, I'd call V.V the Shadow Emperor. Charles definitely softens up when he's around V.V, and it irked me a bit that the guy can actually look at someone with semi-kind expression. It's unnerving as well that we seem to get more of V.V than Charles, which somewhat indicated that V.V makes most of the decisions instead of Charles.

I once had the illusion that Charles' Geass got the better of him around the time before Marianne was killed. There's not much mention of Charles of the past. For all we know, he MIGHT have been a good father. He was at least looking over Nunally and Lelouch in the recent Anya/CC synchro. It would have been better if we could see this expression then.

Something has got to be fishy from the very beginning if Charles contract term clashes horribly with Lulu's.

EDIT: Remember the character sketches? Alongside young Charles' sketch, it says "What happened 21 years ago?". Enough to make me curious :P

let me throw out a epileptic tree:

he lost control of his geass and then gave himself the false memory that he still has control over it thus giving him control over it again

if his geass works like lulu's and can be reflected and it can make lulu's geass deactivate then he could do it
