I don't know if this has been discussed before, but does anyone else, like me, think that maybe, maybe, Lelouch's feeling for Nunnally surpass those of an ordinary brother? Maybe I've just read too many mangas that end up involving incest, but it just seems that Lelouch is going the extra mile for her. Any thoughts?

EDIT: I suppose I should have stated my case better with evidence rather than turning it into a free for all where people think I'm pulling this out of my butt 'cause I have no problems with incest (and yeah, maybe it's because I don't have any brothers) in animanga.

Yes, I admit, it's not unnatural to want to protect your family. After the death of his mother, Lelouch had only Nunnally by his side and because of her injuries, she required his attention. For the longest time, I didn't think anything of his devotion to her, but after certain events, it just makes everything come a little more into perspective.

I care about my family, and tons of people really love their siblings. I'm not heartless and would let anyone in my family die without trying to help them, but if I had Lelouch's power, I would fight for the innocent as much as my family. He claims to fight for the rest of the world, but deep down it's all for Nunnally's sake. Without her, he probably wouldn't do what he is.

In the 6th Picture Drama, Milly teased that Lelouch and Nunnally's love was beautiful but dangerous (even if she was joking, there were obviously grounds to make this assumption).

In Episode 21, when Nunnally and Euphemia were talking, Nunnally made the comment that when they were children, the two girls used to fight over who would marry Lelouch.

In Episode 23, as he fired the shot that would ultimately kill Euphemia, he admitted that she was his "first love". So he obviously had, at some point, stronger than typical feelings for his sisters.

But the turning point for me, at least, was in Episode 11 of R2. If anyone recalls, Xingke and Tianzi obviously loved each other, despite the age difference (and if people are going to spazz about the incest claims, what about the pedophilic feelings between them? He is a heck of a lot older than she is). So, not knowing whether to force Tianzi into a political marriage, or allow her to be with the one she loved, he called Shirley who told him "Love is power. Falling in love with someone gives you great power. Thinking about this person every single day...jumping into waterfalls and screaming the person's name," and when she asks, "Don't you have someone like that Lulu? To dedicate more than you normally would for someone," he immediately thought of Nunnally with his look of utter realization on his face.

There is such thing as being attracted to your siblings, and it's something some people can grow out of. Whether it's "penis envy" or whatever you call it, some girls are attracted to their fathers, some boys to their mothers, some children to their siblings. So for that to be in anime, something that dips in every taboo available, pretty well, it's not completely impossible. Chill. Just because you don't care for it doesn't mean other people aren't allowed to be interested.

And I'd like to take this moment to point out that incest is not all that uncommon in royalty. In fact, it happened a lot, simply to keep blood lines "pure."

As above -- I'm not retarded, I know that royal families did that sort of thing all the time.

I'm getting sick of people in this fandom warping what's actually there into something that really isn't.

*shrug* As has been stated before, just because you don't care for it does not mean other people can't like it. Technically, about 80% of this fandom has no canon basis. But Gino/Suzaku and C.C./Kallen fans do exist along with Lelouch/Nunnally shippers and people who read deep and meaningful things into Rivalz and his motorcycle. Don't like it, don't read it.

Judgmental, much?

When it comes to fandom, especially one in which the majority of ships are largely unsupported by canon, there are no "ridiculous theories" or "stupid justifications" and reasons one person likes something over something else cannot be "flawed".

The people here who don't like incest or don't see it between Lelouch and Nunnally didn't have to respond. They don't have to participate. They can choose to, but in choosing to join the discussion, they also should be polite and respectful, as they are the ones bringing rain to the parade. When fandom is almost entirely centered around interpretation, anti-ship or anti-interpretation crusades are a waste of energy. Live and let live.

I can't speak for anyone else on the threads here, but I'm not saying you can't say anything if you disagree.

However, there is a profound difference between discussion and "zomg, that's so stupid, stfu". And if all one has to say is "zomg, that's so stupid, stfu", then why bother saying anything at all? That kind of argument does nothing to further discussion, whether it's pro or anti. It's also rude and accomplishes nothing but upsetting people. And as much as we all like to say we're untouchable islands in the massive internet stream, I doubt anyone really likes being called "stupid".

More often than not, it isn't what someone says that's the problem. It's how that person says it.

Exactly what [livejournal.com profile] apapazukamori said, just because you don't like it doesn't mean other people can't. There's no canon basis for any relationship in the series, except probably Viletta/Ougi. Part of the fun of fandom is to twist things further than what they truly are.

If you don't like people warping things, good luck finding a fandom where people don't.

Oh, and it's not like the writers of the series haven't hinted at Lelouch/Nunnally and just about every other pairing. Go watch Picture Drama 8.75 and come back to me, k? :)

Ahaha -- not really. :/

Again, your opinion. But guess what? Your opinion isn't necessarily truth or right. Other people are entitled to believe what they want, even if you don't like get. Got a problem with that, too bad. Get over it or gtfo. The fandom isn't going to change just because you don't like it.

I personally don't ship Lelouch/Nunnally, but that doesn't mean there isn't hints at it in the series. And if I were to bash every person that ships a pairing I don't personally like, I'd end up being very lonely in fandom.
