Another fan-made English version was posted recently, which reminded me of this. I'm not sure how I feel about this girl's voice (not that I could honestly do any better), but I really like what she's done with the lyrics. It's probably the best attempt I've found so far.

Me too. I'm not always happy with how the English versions turn out, but it's always interesting to see what they do with it, anyway. I even prefer the English Yu Yu Hakusho openings and endings to the originals.

I wouldn't go that far. She can sing on pitch and in rhythm, which is really the only objective measure of what it means to 'be able to sing'. Subjectively, I'm not sure I like her tone, but I can recognize her ability all the same.

That's what I'm thinking, as well. I've listened to FLOW live (on youtube, because there's no way I can afford to fly over to actually go to one of their concerts), and they're about as pitchy without the studio treatment as this amv is. I'm still not sure I like her tone, but it's pretty clear that she has the ability to sing.

She has a lovely voice, but it needs some training. The lyrics, on the other hand, are awesome. Not bad for a home production :-]

Wow...that was pretty good for it being fanmade! :D Makes me wish that they had an official English version of the song. Like how Funimation always dubs the OP and ED themes. Though Funimation kinda scares me...

It wasn't this one (it was one by MasakoX, I think -- the guy who collaborates on Naruto Abridged). This one's...alright. His voice is nice, but he's clearly singing out of his range, and not adjusting his technique accordingly. He's also straining like WOAH on some of the high notes.

Eh, I didn't like it much. Sounded flat and she lost strength in her voice along the way. I did like the lyrics.

I don't know if I agree with the 'flat' part (if you're referring to her pitch, and not her delivery), because this is the first time I've encountered a fan-made opening with bearable harmonies. But her loss of strength bothered me, as well.

Well, maybe not terribly flat, but some notes aren't as clear/accurate as I'd hope for them to be. :o

That's true, but I chalk it up to the fact that the people who make these aren't spending hours upon hours in a recording studio getting it just right, whereas the professional artists are. Compared to some of the other versions I've seen, her pitch is quite admirable.
