Alright, so I was just rewatching the end of turn 25...

When Lelouch puts his hand to Suzaku's mask and spreads blood on it, do you guys think it's possible that he showed Suzaku that he had code?
After I saw the end the first time, I was thinking that Lelouch is totally carriage man/paper crane, and if this is true, then he must have gained immortality.  So I'd imagine that code/geass is involved.

UH I'm really sorry if someone already brought this up, but I haven't seen it anywhere yet.
Just a thought.

I'm about half and half, to be completely honest.
I really WANT to think that he's alive, but yes, I have doubts.

One thing I really like about the end is that it's pretty open ended, so everyone is free to believe what they wish.

Well, I don't think the Code is always on the hand :/ I was guessing that was just a Charles thing.

I also heard the theory that he got the Code -> RR (Rurushu aka Lelouch phonetically in Japanese) -> R2. But I have my doubts, I was just guessing CC was just talking to herself randomly again like she usually does, and never makes sense.

I just rewatched it after reading this post... His hand looks soaked in blood. Even if it was there, I doubt you could see it under all that red, since they did show us a little bit of his palm during that scene, all I could see was red.

I was freaking out over the homolust combined with sadness, it was fantastic.

That's also what I first thought, and a large part of me still believes it. I don't think Lelouch would tell Suzaku because it would just make things more difficult.

I was sad that I had to leave /a/ early last night, as I had things to do. I really would have enjoyed watching and talking about it live.
It's the last Code Geass Sunday with an episode being released, and I'm sad.

I love the open ending, it leaves room for much speculation and uncertainty. It's just like Sunrise to leave things nice and unresolved.

It's certainly possible. My theory was always that code transfer didn't go through until the new bearer died (which is why CC was 'killed' in that one scene, and thus it's possible that he really *did* Geass Charles back then but it was all according to his keikaku) and thus it would turn out that he got Charles' Code somehow, which would allow for a fake death. When I saw Suzaku!Zero go for Lulu I was like "nooo- oh, wait, they're going to go with that twist" but then CC was alone in that last scene, so that pretty much kills that theory. Perhaps that was one last troll for the fans, that they get us expecting something like that and then go 'OH SNAP NO HAPPY END FOR LULU FOR YOU BITCHES'.

I think Lelouch is dead, and Lelouch is my favourite character, but it make so much more sense with everything else, the only sad thing was for me that he died surrounded by people who hated him.
I'm sure only few of them, Nunnally, Suzaku, Kallen, actually felt sad and cried for him.
Also if he was going to survive, the scene with C.C praying and looking sad while Suzaku was running and killing lelouch wouldn't have had any reason to exist, he was going to survive right? She could have been hidden somewhere and definitely not so sad and worried as if she just knew what was going to happen...
But that's my idea...

I'm a Lelouch is alive believer, possible or not I like to think about it. I like to think that CC addressed that last line to Lelouch/driver, that he gained immortality and kept his promise.
Still I'll let him slip away if his death is confirmed, his death was so intense but at the same time he realized everything. He will now able to rejoice with his lost beloved ones... ;__;

While I will not argue the main question, Lelouch touching Suzaku's mask with his bloody hand is twofold. One Lelouch is partially trying to comfort his friend, who he knows will suffer for a long time because of their decision. Two, it's almost like blessing the next Zero and creating a pact with Suzaku. As Suzaku says "I accept this geass." It's symbolic yo.

How does spreading blood indicate that he had code? Re-watch again. Lelouch was showing Suzaku that his punishment involved killing his friend, live with the mask for all eternity (spreading blood on the mask to enhance the traumatic effect). The way I see it, nothing in the end suggests Lelouch is alive. He's died satisfied and his death is appreciated by the people who loved him. That's just epic. ...But like you, I'm Still PISSED. If you suggest that Lelouch and CC are living happily together ever after. I'll believe you. T_T

I can't see Lelouch doing that, somehow, because it'd be like shirking his 'punishment'. He's not the sort of person I don't think who would allow Suzaku to be punished but not himself, when he feels like he really deserves it.
Sure, he could be a cold, manipulative bastard at times, but it was all for the good of all.

...On the other hand, maybe he was intending to die. And C.C. was praying that the code would come through.

I Want Lelouch to be alive SO BAD! I DESPERATELY want to belive that he took C.C.'s Code and that the stab didn´t kill him...But... if he had done so...I guess he wouldn't have been himself... He wanted to die so he could pay for all the bad things that he did on is way to getting his revenge, creating a better world for Nanally and liberating Japan...

But I still Think It's SO UNFAIR! everybody hated him in the end! and C.C. ended up all alone again! Both of them deserved Better!

They were using geass as a metaphor for a wish. Asking someone else to do what they can't. Lelouch cannot create peace like he wanted so he's asking Suzaku to carry on.

part of me hates that he's dead because he was someone who had so little happiness in life - and in the end, he had the world hate him so that he could create the gentle world he dreamed of.

clues pointing towards this: no grave shown. at all. that would have been a great clincher if lulu really was dead.

the other half of me liked the ending just the way it was. despite everything, lelouch's face in the end was the most peaceful i'd ever seen on him. like, 'finally, i can remove the mask.'

I'm still pretty half and half when it comes to Lelouch's death. I really want him to be dead because it would be so much more dramatic, but I also want him to be alive, or at least something like Marianne.

I can't see him as doing anything like that though, really, and he probably wanted death. The only way I can see him being alive is if he is still trying to fulfill the contract with C.C.

Either Lelouch didn't know he was going to get the code therefore justifying C.c.'s praying OR C.c. was praying that their mission would be successful (actually create peace). Her not being able to watch Lelouch die got to me though, he was what she made him, despite what he said. She should have been there to support him.

And, if Lulu is still alive, he wouldn't turn his back on the people who's lives he changed, he would be Zero, not Suzaku. He wouldn't turn his back on eveyone to deal with the mess he made, he's got too much of a conscience.

For this point alone I believe he is dead, as much as I want to believe he is alive.

So a 40/60 from me...
