I'm gonna buck the trend (in the now-nonexistent previous thread) and say "Euphie".
Reason #1: She had no clue why she was dying. Lol geass.
Reason #2: She died after carrying out (beyond her will) something absolutely abhorrent to her. At least both Rolo and Shirley died fully in control of their own desires and will and doing something they believed in.
Reason #3: With her died 95% of the chance of GOOD END. Ever since she died, this show's been a downward spiral of doom, gloom, and overwhelming personal tragedy. I think it's mostly this that makes her death most tragic to me.
I agree with this. Euphie would be my first, then Lelouch, though Shirley's death was pretty sad, too. Rolo's death wasn't heartbreaking or all that tragic for me. Euphie and Shirly were innocent and doing what they believed to be good. One died doing something horrible and beyond her control. The other died following her heart, trying to help the person she loved and support him once she understood his pain.
In preparation for cosplaying Massacre Princess!Euphie at Otakon this past year, I rewatched eps 22-23 and my heart broke AGAIN, even though I knew what was going to happen. I'd say that's pretty heartbreaking.
this was so convincing that it almost made me change my mind! but i still vote for lelou as the saddest death (and i'm one of those few(?) who believe that yeah lelou's actually dead)
hooray for copy/paste
