#1 For me, I cried the most when Rolo died... The Hitomi song accompanied by the fact that he was finally doing something that he wished to do, rather than obeying others' orders as a "tool"... Looking back, I think I cried not only because I was sad, but more so because I was *happy* for him ;_;
#2 Euphie is one of my favorite characters of the series, but I didn't cry when she died... Rather, I was very shocked, speechless, and *RAAAGE*
I agree with the poster above who said that her death was the beginning of the downward spiral of the rest of the series... Suzaku never smiled anymore after she died (and I *love* Suzaku's smile!!), and if only she wasn't geassed, then really, *everyone* would have been happy! *sigh*
#3 I love Lelouch, but I wanted him to die because of all the deaths and pain he caused, but when he finally did, I couldn't help but cry ;_;
(The first time I watched the last episode, I thought that he was dead, but after visiting message boards and such, I now believe that he's alive and immortal ^_^)
#45394857 I never really liked Shirley, so I didn't feel sad when she died at all... In fact, I was kind of like "hurry up and die already" when she was confessing her feelings to Lelouch with her final breaths (don't shoot me! I'm a Lelouch x C.C. fan!!) I even became a bigger Rolo fan because he killed her =D
Just here to point out that Suzaku did in fact smile after Euphie's death. He smiled around Shirley; he also smiled for Nunnally once if I recall correctly. And he smiled while joking around by Lelouch, this of course being the most natural and accidental of the examples. It was after Shirley died that Suzaku never smiled again. Though he almost might have in 17 if not for DIABLOS EX MACHINA aka Sunrise.
Ah I totally forgot about those times... It might just be me (huuuuge SuzaEuphie fan here!), but I really see a striking difference between Suzaku's smiles in S1 and the ones in R2... Not just the amount/quantity of smiles, but that *quality* of them, if that makes sense... And it can't be denied that Suzaku's disposition in the second season is so drastically different from how he was in the first season... It can't be denied that Euphie's death had a huge, irreversible impact on him, he'd never be the same =(
Oh I believe it had a huge impact on him. And most of his smiles throughout R2 are forced and him playing a role. That's what got me about 13's smile. He's not playing a role there; he simply slipped for just one second and let himself go back to a simpler time. There will always be three very important people in Suzaku's life, and they alone are the ones capable of making him truly smile: Euphie, Nunnally and Lelouch. The smile in 13 is the same carefree quality as the ones of S1, and that is why Suzaku gets so upset in that scene; he realizes it. Suzaku doesn't want that happiness back, especially around Lelouch. That scene has always fascinated me because it reminded me that no matter what, those three special people for Suzaku will never change.
Maybe I'm an optimist, but Suzaku has a life to live, albeit a very unique one. He is only 18, and he cannot do his reckless life-risking stunts of usual. I think that, in time, Nunnally will make Suzaku smile again. Nunnally, after all, can help Suzaku realize Euphie's dream.

Three whole times, by my count!
