If Euphy on her deathbed still had some strength left and not enough willpower to resist the geass to kill Suzaku, which activated Suzaku's live geass and he became the one to kill her. O_o; Thank God they didn't pick this route or I'll probably be scarred for life.
I think they decided to end it there with Euphemia on her deathbed. It would be overdoing it if she still tried to kill Suzaku and his Geass was activated.
And, if Suzaku did kill Euphie, even by accident, he would go insane. He wouldn't be sane enough for another season.
