Why yes we are a poll. And yes I do live here. After reading something
verity_isle said about people watching Geass for the lulz only and following most of the anime blogs, I asked myself why I watch Geass. I realized the answer has changed from the time I started watching the series to just after the Mao arc, when Geass suddenly became my *show* as I once viewed my other fave Naruto. So as usual, I have two questions to pose:
1. Why did you originally start watching Geass? When might be cool to know too since I know we have people here since October and others who recently marathoned the whole thing. It seems to me when a person started watching Geass partially determines the why.
2. Why do you stick with Geass AKA what do you love about it?
For me, I started with Geass sheerly because 1.)it was Clamp, 2.)Lelouch looks like Kamui and 3.)I love Kamui no matter what hell he puts me through. I did originally just watch it for the WTFery, although I always adored Lelouch. Now I admit I'm into the political intrigue and just how Lelouch is going toscrew himself deal with things next. I might add more to this later but I'd rather hear some others first.

Well, first of all, I'm a complete noob to Geass - I just started watching in late February and am up to episode 16 now. I'm catching up, slowly but surely. D:
I heard about the show on /a/ all the time. Everyone always raves about Lulu and I found myself asking "Okay, why the HELL is everyone so gay for this man? What's so special about a bishie/noodleman?" So part of my watching it comes from that. I also, er, stumbled upon some Lulu/Suzaku art, and that's when I knew I had to check the show out.
2. Why do you stick with Geass AKA what do you love about it?
I'm not an incredibly huge fan of mecha, but I enjoy the political views of each character and the plot twists. I enjoy the school scenes much more than the battles, however, just for the character development. Like I said, not a big-time mecha watcher.

You mean noodle god?
Yes, someone else who likes the politics, too! /o/

What do I love about it? The fact that it's so anti-HAHAHA, etc. I mean, it's just amazingly negative, and makes me laugh uproariously. There are so many historical faux pas that it mentions and then jabs right in the ribs, and I'm having an awful good time pointing them out to myself and anyone who enters the vicinity. Also? I'm pretty sure the ending theme (first) is vocal crack, and you can become addicted. ^______^ (That and CLAMP does chara design, so it's fucken gorgeous.)

When it started. Really, 2006 was when I got my anime kick back again, and when Random Curiosity (http://randomc.animeblogger.net/) mentioned that Lelouch is very similar to Light from Death Note (who happens to be my #1 character at that time), I knew I have to check it out. & no, it wasn't CLAMP that drew me in XD Then I thought that it wasn't that bad, so I decided to follow it. & hey, my instincts were A++++
2. Why do you stick with Geass AKA what do you love about it?
First, the idea of an anti-hero always attract me. & that's what Lelouch did. Then the clashes of two different ideals attracted me as well. In the end you'll anticipate the next episode to see what will happen, & who will get their glory this time around. & how this whole thing will conclude (oh aren't we all waiting for it? ;) )Last but not least, C.C has got to be the best female character evarr ♥

What first attracted me was one of its official pictures(the first one I saw actually). The art attracted me so next I read the plot. The plot seemed very interesting and unique. I'm also a sucker for supernatural stuff so I gave it a try, by watching the first episode. After watching it, the next thing I know was I was officially hooked xD
2. Why do you stick with Geass AKA what do you love about it?
I love its story line. It's dark, inspiring, refreshing . . .I dunno how to properly describe it x_X But for sure it had amazed me! It also makes me crave for what will happen next. Code Geass was the first anime that I had extreme spoiler-hungryness xD I also love its combination of genres (sci-fi, fantasy, mecha, comedy, love, family, horror, bloodshed, supernatural, school, etc.)
And of course, I LOVE the characters ^_^
except for a few T_T e.g. Shirley and Nina!Among the guys I love Lloyd and Lelouch the most xD For the girls, I idolize C.C.! xD I'm also a huge Lelouch x C.C. shipper *_* oh absolutely!!!!!Lastly, I love its pizza hut endorsements xD So hialrious! First anime I've seen that endorsed an existing company ^^; Pizza Hut supports the rebellion! XD Wahehehe

I stick with it because it has two of the things I like most in a story; a large cast with complex background history and relationships, and good ongoing plot. :)

2) I stayed because the series is great. If the 2006-07 anime season were college basketball players, Death Note would be Greg Oden (lots of awesome to start, has kinda peaked for now and I wonder how much better it can get) and Code Geass would be Kevin Durant (has been very good so far, unlimited ceiling to how good it could end up being).
What is so great about Code Geass? Lelouch, first and foremost, is a fantastic character. I liked him even before he got his Geass power. I liked him more after he had the Brittanian soldiers blow their brains out. I liked him even more as he messed with people to keep up his facade as a normal (slacker) high school student. The stunt with Karen in the bathroom was pure brilliance. Not to mention his experiments to see exactly what he can do with his new power. He's knows what he wants to do, he's smart enough to know how to do it, and he will do anything to get it done (blow up a ship and blame it on Brittania to further his goals? Brilliant!).
Then we have the ol' punching bag, Suzaku. The more I watch, the less I like him. I still defend him as a character whose story is incomplete, but I'm seriously annoyed by him. I used to ask "What is it going to take for him to see that Brittania is just using him?" Well, I think he already knows that, but he just doesn't care. He has a death wish from killing his father. He feels that guilty about it. That's why he doesn't want a war, then he would have killed his father for nothing. All his guilt and angst over the past seven years will have been for nothing.
(WARNING: BOYLOVE RANT AHEAD! If I were writing this, I think I'd have Suzaku find out that Lelouch is Zero pretty quickly. Lelouch would try to convince Suzaku to join the Order of the Black Knights, Suzaku would refuse, with his old "you can't win using the wrong methods" bull****. Lelouch would see through it, scene goes something like this:
Lulu: Wouldn't you be happier fighting on the with all your friends?
Suzu: I don't deserve to be happy after killing my father...
Lulu: Yes you do! I... I want you to be happy... *hugs Suzaku*
Suzu: But...
Lulu: "But" nothing... *kisses Suzaku*
End scene. Suzaku then joins Lelouch to open up an industrial strength can of whup-ass on Brittania. But, that's just me. And the rest of the Lulu/Suzu fans.)
Ahem, back on topic. I like the rest of the cast, especially Lloyd. Lloyd is the kind of person I'd like to have a beer with. Kinda crazy and smart as hell. Although, Rivalz is currently battling Shippo of Inuyasha as the "Most Useless Character... Ever". So, that is one thing against Code Geass.
Finally, the show's story has nearly unlimited potential to how good it could be. On top of the military story with Brittania, there's the Geass thing. Who is CC? What is up with those weird alien-looking people? Is Nina going to develop a nuclear bomb? Is this all an elaborate scheme by the Emprorer? Oh, and don't forget Orange-kun.
One season, my ass.

well you say originally so that would be the first time I watched it right? Well around late September my friend showed my a trailer for Code Geass and I was like "ZOMG THATS A COOL SONG!"(colors) so when the raw was first uploaded on youtube I decided to take a poke at it. My frist impressions of it were that it was sooo much like Gundam SEED that it wasn't funny(I also couldn't play mkv's at the time and wasn't planning on downloading a codec pack). So I stopped. but then the manga came out, and I was like MEGA AWESOME! so when chapter 2 was scanlated I went and marathon downloaded all of the avi eps that ureshii & Shinsen had done, but well this wasn't enough for me so I downloaded the rest from gg (which I think was just 7.5 and 8...)
2. Why do you stick with Geass AKA what do you love about it?
I stuck with it because it is one of the most amazing anime that I have ever watched. And what I love about it? Everything.
(no subject)
I'm not sure when exactly... I started just when, I think it was, episode 12 came out. I was just lurking around (like I usually do) when I came upon a nifty picture of Lelouch and I was like "OOO~ SPIFFY~" and it all uphill from there...
2. Why do you stick with Geass?
Well, first when I found out the art was by CLAMP that just made it all cooler.... then Suzaku reminded me of Syaoran (am i the only one? D=) and Syaoran in a gundam type thing made me lol XDDD and now its just simply addicting... I love the characters and I wanna know what happens. The intrigue is just to much for me to pull away XD

2. Why do you stick with Geass AKA what do you love about it? I'm not really sure. It's interesing and diferent than the other series I watch. I really like it's political aspects. Plus I'm a sucker for Lelouch and C.C.

Suzaku...Syoran...Hehehehe...I still haven't quite gotten over that.
And then, of course, Lulu is just so pretty...
And then the plot started getting interesting, and I started having a lot of fun doing character reading...and glaring at Suzaku for being stupid..

I continue to watch the series because it's so damn good! LoL. I love Fukuyama's performance as Lelouch, Sakurai is great as Suzaku (*obviously a seiyuu fan*), and the story is just really interesting. The cliffhangers really keep you on the edge, as evil as they are.
(no subject)
And now? I'm just clinging to this series because I wanna know how everything turns out and how everything gets resolved! I love how this show explores new perspectives on great themes (like Ends vs. the Means) and how the main characters play such important foils to each other (like Lelouch and Suzaku)

1. ...she's still convincing me. I've not the time... but I'm watching anyway. ._. XDD
