24 and 25, while exciting, were immensely unsatisfying D= ... so to feel better, I made icons. Hope you like ♥.

54 code geass icons -- about half from episodes 24&25 (so some are slightly spoilery, I guess).

No, I am not kidding. Why would they resolve anything? They have a season 2. All good arcs end with cliffhangers.

*shrug* Well...clearly you wanted something you didn't get and I got everything I wanted out of it, so...it's a difference of opinion. It was thrilling, it was emotional, and the stage is set for more. Job done, as far as I am concerned.

They gave Orange-kun an Orange shaped mech.
They had lelouch trap Suzaku and leave him, with a 'toodles' and then run away only to get trapped by him again.
They had Lelouch's Geass working thru the radio broadcast no?
They had ninja Sayoko.
Your-mom added hot sex with the eleven bit....
Nina had a nuke.

What exactly DID you want? Yaoi?

Action is all good, yes.. but there was no tiny bit of resolution. Most cliffhanger endings for season enders give closure but leaves the taste of lack. Cliffies with no resolution belong within a season/series/scene/act/arc. Season enders are called such because they are endings in themselves only that they leave you the feeling of more of future possibilities. The sort of cliffie they used here belongs to the former. We didn't find a major plotline resolved: the rebellion's fate wasn't assured - success or failure, we don't know- Marianne's murder became even more of a mystery.. You get us right? We wanted plot development and closure..

Sorry, but Marianne's murder being more of a mystery *isn't* plot development? Marianne called off the guards herself = plot development. Cornelia knew nothing about the murder. Neither had Clovis (who was murdered anyway). Lelouche hasn't geassed Schneizel (yet) but it pretty much looks like everything Lelouche assumed he knew is wrong. This is also character development for Lelouch.

Suzaku and Karen now know Zero is Lelouche for certain. Vialetta also knows. Therefore 'Zero', the secret identity, may well be dead in the water. And of course, Shirley possibly knows. Karen has also been revealed as being with the rebels at the academy; her cover is blown too. All of this is development.

The first Prince had a speaking role! That was a development!

And of course, VV has Nunnally = plot development. VV is a late plot development in his own right, designed to carry into the second season as he's barely been explored yet.

If the series had ended without energy and power, I might be complaining about it finishing without every thread tied up in a neat little closure package. But they clearly have enough story and easily enough momemtum to easily carry the story through into season 2 with a bang. Literally. >)

On the Marianne incident, it was a development yes but rather than offering closure it complicated the storyline more = not for an 'ending'

And I don't care about some cowardly prince..if he showed more spine and more threat for the next season then fine but he isn't..

On the list goes..you talk about development but development is only essential for providing continuity for the next season..what this lacks is closure, something that defines that it does mark an end to a season and not just an episode full of revelations delayed with more to come..something to mark it as separate from the next..do you get me? If there was something that ended, something that definitely marked it as the end to the first season then please tell since I missed it!! Please tell me that something that bound the season together that closed here! What does it END?!

If you could read my rant in my journal, which you can't since it's f-locked, you'd find that I don't hate the episode at all, as it's Geass!! I love it! Whatever my misgivings with it are, my love for CG far outshines them. I just made voice what I felt in line to the subject opened by [livejournal.com profile] cacophonicons. When I watched the ep I was dragged in. I even had to bite my arms just to stop my wails. I can't deny the possibility that part of my critique stems from having a cliffie for my 4-month wait. But still that doesn't change that this trail of thought has already grown roots in me.

It ends Zero.

But if you're not going to change your mind even a little, then there is no room for further debate, so I won't waste my time. :)

I don't see this as a debate. As a debate is to defend a stand with all intent not to waver. I see this more of a discussion, albeit a heated one, do you think I'd choose to not remove any misgivings I have about one of my most liked anime? That's why I even asked you what you saw ended..

What of Zero did it end? Are you pertaining that there no longer is any meaning for the continued existence of Zero has he has been unmasked with no way to remove the memory as he has already Geassed both Suzaku and Kallen? Or is it that Zero has ended in the sense that he might as well be dead because a lot of those behind him have lost faith? That he is all alone now and that the success of his quest is moot?

Ah, I didn't mean any offense, merely that it wasn't worth continuing something that couldn't go anywhere.

As to Zero, a bit of all those things. Either way, Zero seems to be pretty much over. At least one person who knows Lelouche Lamperouge is Zero wasn't even there for him to remove (and that's Vialetta and he's geassed her too anyway). Maybe that's why the episode was called Zero. *ponders* As for Lelouch, he'll either have to hide behind another mask or he'll now have to pursue this quest as himself.

Oh, and thinking about it, I think you could definitely say his 'friendship' (such as it was) with Suzaku is ended too.
