Never mind, problem solved =D

So I was watching R2, and when the video paused to load, I noticed something strange about the opening introduction.

The Empire started in America?

Now, I'm not the most observant of people, so I could've missed something while I was watching. However, I thought that Britannia started in, well, Europe. Can someone please direct me to some information to ease my confused mind?

Sorry if this is a repost, or against the rules, or something ^^; New to the community and LJ in general.

that map isn't exactly an accurate representation of the world. (did canada separate from north america, or is that an extra large greenland?)

but i read somewhere that in the show, there was never a usa, and it remained a colony of britannia... maybe they moved their headquarters to a bigger and more accessible location?

or we're just reading into it too much and they really are referring to britannia as today's usa. O_o it IS the economic colonizer of the world.

I was wondering about Australia's fate in Code Geass too, actually XD As well as loling over the Kiwis being part of Brittania. Although, I hope they don't have some kind of 'Area ___' name as well D:

green could be the chinese occupied territories.

i take it you're australian? XD wasn't australia also a britannian colony long ago?

and wasn't cornelia at war in africa, or something? the european union? or is my world history messing up what i remember from the show?

i have to watch season 1 again.

I think it's a projection (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Map_projection) issue.

From the overlarge polar areas, it seems a cylindrical projection was used..

*sorry for the recomment*

looking at the colours, it seems like brittania is based in USA... coz by colour red = britannia :x

but UK isn't red! D: so they're the EU?

the light green should be china whatever, so that means australia is independent? @__@;

A short Britannian history/geography primer:

  • The Romans never conquered Britain, which was led by the first "Britannian" king.
  • Britannia was originally British (starting out in England), tracing their line from the Tudors.
  • The American colonies rebelled. The colonies lost and failed to gain independence.
  • Shortly afterwards, the Napoleonic invasion was successful, forcing the seat of government to move to its American colonies.
  • Britain is currently part of the EU.

Fun fact I read somewhere (I think it's official): Orange-kun is nobility whose estate is a Floridian citrus plantation. XD

The more I stare at that, the more I wonder if Sunrise is just reusing the 00 maps with some slight alterations. Really, grouping all the Americas together like that? But oh well, gb2 history, Sunrise.

And really, wouldn't Britannia have large chunks of Africa as well?
Date/Time: 2008-04-13 20:00 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] fox-holland.livejournal.com
Not necessarily.
Africa was divided up by Europe, which booted out Britannia by that time.

And considering that Britannia conquered both Americas, a large scale effort must have been put down when conquering the rest of North America and South America.

Sunrise is known for recycling, I wouldn't be surprised if the mechas suddenly turned Gundams... *shot*
