Geass episode 9 postponement

http://forums.narutofan.com/showthread.php?t=375155
Apperently episode 9 of Geass is being postponed from it's June 1st airing due to the earthquakes in China.

EDIT: more proof:

I read the thread. Some of the members are well, erm...I don't bother to say it.

Least they're showing sympathy and condolences. We've been tortured well enough with the waits for code geass 24 and 25 and the wait for r2.

So, we'll manage...right?

[identity profile] eevaleena.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 04:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Aww... bad news, but I think it's only right for them to postponed it. But at least, not for a few months ^^

[identity profile] able.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 04:09 pm (UTC)(link)
good for them. just makes the wait all the more exciting

[identity profile] aether-lux.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, so far, it's only a wait. Mmmm. What are we waiting on the next episode of R2? At least it's nothing big and bombastic.

[identity profile] snozzlenut.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks for sharing. I don't get all the hate in that thread O_O it's only a week, did they not watch the series when we had to wait for felt like an eternity for episode 24&25!?

[identity profile] zalem.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 04:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it sucks we'll have to wait but at least it's only a week. However, I DO worry that this is going to throw the whole geass schedule off a bit. Remember a new anime series is set to begin right after CG ends. They are most likely not going to delay that premiere (especially if it's Gundam 00). It would sucks if the final episode is delayed until they find another airing spot for it. But maybe that won't happen.

Well that's too bad, anyway I can wait a week, it's not like I'm going to die.

[identity profile] dragonlover58.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
At least it's only a week, and not the months we had to wait for the finale. (Wouldn't have mattered for me anyway, I won't have computer access the week 9 is airing anyway. :/ )

[identity profile] sakurina.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
/rolleyes

Oh please, Japanese TV stations. A week's wait is, of course, not that big a deal. But when it's a pointless delay, then it's bloody annoying. What, exactly, is this accomplishing? Nothing. How the hell it could upset people by airing is beyond me, and if anyone really thinks a week's wait will make a difference...just, lol.

[identity profile] x-reggg.livejournal.com 2008-05-22 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
it's not really pointless if it is because of the earthquake in china.. i mean it's like watching an anime with an underground train network being blown up after the incident in london the next day.. not exactly a nice thing to watch.

at least they didn't ban public entertainment for 3 days ;)

The scan said 6/1 would be replaced by a "緊急ナビ" episode, meaning a recap/staff interview/etc type of affair. Normally these are done before a show airs to spark audience interest. There's no mention of the earthquake in the scan, that's probably just speculation.

I would guess it's caused by either production problems (if they weren't able to get Ep 9 finished on schedule) or low ratings. How adding a recap would help ratings is a little mystifying, but they might have simply reduced the total number of episodes due to ratings and had to fill in the timeslot with something else. We'll just have to see.

[identity profile] lulu-quality.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Neither actually. Low ratings aren't a problem and they're relatively ahead of schedule in terms of production (I think they're recording episode 13 right now). The problem is the episodes take place in the Chinese Federation and the episodes will have battles, presumably with Lelouch ripping up the terrain. In light of the horrendous earthquake, to move the episodes by a week is the right thing to do. This wouldn't be the first anime to have episodes delayed due to natural disasters, terrorist attacks, violence etc.

I couldn't read all of the magazine cuts so I'm not so sure about this, but even if so: a week wait for episode 9 for China isn't upsetting at all. Season 1 we got an episode 8.5 = same wait for nothing. Since there's no 8.5 this time, I'm happy^_^

Now I just hope episode 25 won't be cut or delayed, coz that can make me really distressed.

Oh.Okay.

[identity profile] rainbow-cnxn.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Eh. Okay. I'm sure I'll survive for a week and attempt to sleep in on Sunday morning for once. =P

Oh, and here's a good take on the situation from Koshimizu (http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?p=1606719#post1606719), if anyone's interested. Also his post two responses down.

Condolences to the victims in China, and good on Sunrise for being sensitive enough to the world situation.

[identity profile] miken-chan.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm fine for the wait, especially since the Earthquake affects my family quite deeply, with most of our relatives in areas affected by the quake (though thankfully everyone's okay). Not being bothered to watch Geass this week will do me some good. ^-^""

[identity profile] gatekeepers-21.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
So 8 will air normally?

I hope this delay doesn't mean they're violating the contract again and we'll be waiting months for the last episode of Geass to air.

[identity profile] soresutaru.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh joy, this is Gundam SEED Destiny all over again..

[identity profile] lulu-quality.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
How so? They're ahead on production, not behind. They finished recording episode 12 over a week ago and are currently working on (or are finished with) episode 13.

i'm mixed about this. sad that it's postponed, but also happy because i need the revision time XDD

[identity profile] schizofragile.livejournal.com 2008-05-22 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
..there better not be a cliffhanger D: D: D: (which is highly unlikely)

The hate will settle sooner or later. Like, idk. A few days after and they won't be thinking about it :P

[identity profile] dollhouse--x.livejournal.com 2008-05-22 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
I don't understand what these people are BAWWWWing about? It's a week's wait, god forbid we all have to wait a week for an anime episode .___.

I think this is a good step on Sunrise's part, showing respect for the victims of the crisis.

i am ambivalent about his

[identity profile] bacon-sensei.livejournal.com 2008-05-22 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't see why people are getting upset, even in the slightest bit, about a postponed episode of anime. Does it really affect you THAT much? Have some goddamn respect.

/BAAAAWWWWW

[identity profile] tenshi789.livejournal.com 2008-05-23 08:00 am (UTC)(link)
I agree with you- it's not really a big deal

[identity profile] hobbit-hunter.livejournal.com 2008-05-23 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
It's nice of them to consider the Chinese viewers like that. Much better than having to postpone it for a leak - even though that wasn't true.

I hope episode 8 isn't that much of a cliffhanger
:'(
