Does anyone have any ideas about who killed Marianne? And why? I think it might have been V.V., but what would be his motive for killing her? What would be anyone's motive for killing her? Why not kill one of the other wives? Why was she the one that was murdered? No one would gain anything. I mean, even if it was a mistake that she was killed and the true objective was to kill Lelouch and Nunally. Lelouch and Nunally had absolutely no shot at the throne, so there would be no point in taking them out. The only was she was important (as far as I know) was that Cornelia looked up to her and she was Lelouch's and Nunally's mother. But then again, she must have been important enough for Jeremiah to be assigned to protect her.

Any ideas?

I was just wondering, for those of us thinking that Jeremiah is playing to Lelouch's feelings - who's to say that Jeremiah hasn't been playing V.V. and Charles this whole time? It could be perfectly possible that Jeremiah's always resented Charles for not investigating Marianne's death/for being the cause of it/whatever reason you can think of, and that once he came to realize that Lelouch is trying to avenge Marianne he agreed to join the Knights.

Though, that said, I doubt my own theory and tend to think that Jeremiah's just playing Lelouch. At least that's what I like to think because otherwise it seems like things would be horribly unbalanced with so much in Lelouch's favour, no matter how many friends and family he's lost.

Mah, well Jeremiah did state that he wanted to become the Emperor's Knight of One in one of the picture book specials, so I don't think that Jery's might have resented the Emp that much. ^^; Or maybe he did, after getting all those alterations. >_>;;

Leave it up to Sunrise to balance it out again.:D From what I've gathered on 2ch, Lelouch would find himself in a pretty crappy position around episode 17. So maybe a few allies that would stay for him no matter what was just the thing he needed, because he's going to lose a lot more from now on.
