Ok so thanks to my frikin job I just watched Turn 13 CG R2 yesterday, and I'm still very impressed of it. That's why I decided to discuss over this frikky dikky character called Rolo ;3
So yes, he did it and I don't know if I want to thank him or if I should curse him XD Actually I didn't like Shirley at all, but I never thought it would go that far on the series. Believe me I never thought she would die, I mean it never crossed on my mind, but now that it happened I don't know how to react about it.
Anyway, to the topic thing, aka Rolo. From the second or third turn we could notice that he wasn't that sane, and from my point of view, he only accepted to be Lelouch's ally because he wanted to feel useful somehow. Not in the way that he was an assassin, but in the way that he was "loved" or "cared about" by someone; because I bet if any other character, even Orenji XD, would have done that, promised him heaven and a "family" he would have accepted, just as he did with Lulu.
If he's that "crazily" obssesed with Lelouch is not because he's in love or something, maybe he is wtf let's leave it for RoloxLelouch writers (tons of love for them btw), it's because he wants to protect his "home" and "family". Yes because if Lulu dies, bye bye home and family, because I mean...I bet everyone would go crazy if they had that kiddy "protecting" them and of course he wouldn't follow Zero's path and/or cause of rebellion, he'd run like a silly girl and get lost somewhere, becoming the new Charles Manson.
Once I read about a killer, in which she was looking for a house but, because of some trouble, she was dumped by her "boyfriend" and the old guy who took care of her told her to abandon the house because she was a prostitute...the thing here is XD that she killed both of them, because they took away from her the "home" she finally had. That's why, that in a near future (aka in the end or whatever) Lelouch discovers that Rolo was the guilty one of Shirley's death and abandons him...I wouldn't be that surprised if Lulu died in Rolo's hands. We know that kid is incredibly crazy, and we know Lulu is sacred for him, but it's not because he's an important "person" for him, it's because he represents the object of a "family" and a "home".
I love this kid, but if he did something to Lulu I'd stop liking him...or maybe I'd love him more, who knows XDDD
So, besides all my babbling, what do you guys think? ;3

After getting over the shock of what he did, I love Rollo again too... He needs love, being the starving orphan he obviously must have been at first. He has threatened Lulu before, and Lelouch knows Rollo'll be dangerous if he sees his newfound security threatened

even though he did it, I still love Rollo! I am saying this a lot of times already but if in any way I can help Rollo keep the secret of him killing Shirley then I would really help him...
OOhh..I am such a biased when Rollo is being talked about x_X

I agree with you in thinking that Rolo isn't in love with Lelouch, he's just in love with the idea of having a family, someone who cares for him, and a normal lifestyle. It's not hard to understand why he has an abnormal desire to be wanted; Rolo doesn't have any parents, and he's spent his entire life manipulating people and then killing them.
He doesn't know what a life is or what love is. He's starved for affection, and it isn't a far fetch to think that Rolo could harbor feeling for Lelouch that aren't strictly of a brotherly nature, but most likely only because he doesn't understand how to show the emotions that he has for Lelouch.
Turn 7, for example, shows Rolo getting unnecessarily close to Lelouch when speaking to him. This can be interpreted as Rolo showing affection toward Lelouch that isn't of a brotherly nature, or a misunderstanding on Rolo's part about how siblings are supposed to interact. Personally, I think of it as a threatening move. Rolo is telling Lelouch that being Zero is a burden and that it is getting in the way of creating the ideal life that he promised. The way that Rolo says that he will always be there for Lelouch...forever, seems to be some sort of threat, to me. Like he is trying to communicate with Lelouch that there is no escaping the promises that he has made.
During turn 7, Rolo also purposely taunts Lelouch by putting the televised images of Nunnally on the bus. This is rather strange to me; it's as if Rolo is trying to show Lelouch that Nunnally is a burden, yet he also helps Lelouch earlier by allowing him time to speak with Nunnally when Sazaku tries to pull one on Lelouch. I'm not quite certain what Rolo's feelings toward Nunnally are yet, but it seems to be mixed. He might feel resentment toward her for being Lelouch's real sister, and he might think that she will simply get in the way of his life.
Also, Rolo believes that Ashford Academy is the only place where he belongs. He also tells Lelouch that if he gets caught, him and Lelouch share the same fate - death. This shows that Rolo is willing to give up the existence that he currently has in order to make a new one with Lelouch; the way that Rolo says this also shows a desire to share something with Lelouch, even something as terrible as death. Rolo wants desperately to identify with Lelouch. He wants this life, and he will do whatever it takes to get it.
I wouldn't put it past Rolo to harm Lelouch in a fit or rage if Lelouch were to go back on his promise. It would be very easy for him; and once again, I believe that Rolo is in love with the idea of the life that Lelouch says he can offer him.
I'm not quite certain why Rolo killed Shirely, but it could have roots in the theory that Rolo is in love with Lelouch and dislikes Shirley for being in love with him as well. Or it could be because someone knowing about Lelouch's life as Zero is dangerous when Lelouch and Rolo could both be put to death if news escaped.
I feel terrible for Rolo. The only person that he has ever gotten close to is using him, and he may or may not know this.

I actually believe that Rolo does doubt Lelouch. If he really, truly trusted Lelouch, he wouldn't have had the need to do what he did in episode 7, or repeatedly ask Lelouch if he'd keep his promise in episode 8. I think he's lightened up a little since then, but then he went and killed Shirley on the grounds that she remembered. I believe she even told Rolo that she wanted to help them, but as soon as she said Nunnally's name... I think he perceived Shirley as a threat to his way of life that he wanted to protect and he took care of it the only way he knew how. It's really depressing, because I know that wasn't Shirley's intention at all.
Hence why I feel even more sorry for him. Lelouch was definitely planning to off him either way, maybe Sunrise just made him kill Shirley so Lelouch is more justified in doing so. /conspiracy theory

This discussion depresses me. Yet, I'm still all for your conspiracy theory.

I love little Rolo boy

I should probably stick Gino in there somewhere.)(no subject)
But I don't know, how would he know he killed Shirley? She didn't say a thing and...well who knows, Sunrise will keep surprising me til the end, and I'm sure they won't disapoint me but make me sad if they killed any of those two, aka Lulu and/or Rolo XD

But also the fact of Rolo killing Shirley maybe was totally because of Nunally being mentioned, even if I want to believe it was like that, he can't be in love with Lulu. He only wants to keep him by his side.
Also, who knows, maybe he want to die with him, or as I mentioned already kill him and yeah why not, kill himself. It's crazy, but I think of it as a very romantic scene.
*is crazy*

As
As I stated before, Rolo could also be slightly jealous of Nunnally, but only because Lelouch might see him as a replacement, or Rolo maybe jealous of her because she was the original.
I don't think that jealousy fueled the violent reaction that Rolo had; he would have known that killing Shirley would not impress Lelouch. Rolo only killed Shirley because he saw no other option than to eliminate her.
I'm really not sure what Rolo thinks Lelouch's reaction will be when he finds out. Perhaps he hopes that Lelouch will understand why he killed her?

but really i felt bad she died :\

The thing is, does Lelouch love her like that? He jumped off a building for her...and he WILL get revenge at the order. He rebels because he cares XD
As for Rolo, I like him for BEING mentally unstable. And he is a badass when he goes on a killing rampage. But I get the feeling he'll die at the end
just after discovering Lelouch is his real brother and Nunnally is his twin sister XDmost likely after he goes Crazy!berserk for knowing Lelouch was just using him. Yes, this is one character that I love because he suffers and willprobablynot get a happy ending XD(no subject)
just as planned(no subject)
by Marianne!! O__OErmm, I mean, why else would the Emperor send him???? XP

Although, in doing so Rolo has signed his own death certificate ]:
As much as I'd hate to admit it, Lulu's gonna slaughter him when he finds out it was Rolo who killed her. Rolo seriously doesn't know what he has just gotten himself into.
In a way, I feel bad for Shirley. She stepped on a land mine without even knowing it when she mentioned Nunnally XD
I think Rolo is in love with Lulu
but that could just be wishful thinking on my part (as a yaoi fangirl >:D). He's at least got a really intense brother/family/home complex x](no subject)

Hell, he'd even have some pretty kinky sex with someone as long as he got an "I love you" in there. Now he's fixed on Lelouch, and nothing will get in his way. Shirley was possibly an obstacle that needed to be overcome to get what he wants. And so is Nunally. Also, love is a relative term. It may not be at the point where he's all like, "BANG ME." but he is helplessly in love with Lelouch (he'd die for/with him). Rolo was starved until his heart and mind were completely void of emotion (causing his insanity), but that year he spent with Lelouch as his brother left a gaping hole in his shell (Lelouch turned him from a deadly baby doll, into a living, breathing monster). It's like, his mentality was a desert, but when Lelouch unintentionally slid past his defenses, just the fact that he could give him a hug (even though the memories inducing those affectionate gestures never really existed) was like water. And Rolo didn't care if it was poisoned, he just wanted it. So here Rolo is... desperately wanting Lelouch. And here Lelouch is... using him. xD; And here Rolo is, causing trouble for them both.(Oh, how I love you, Rolo)
I could totally tell from the start Rolo was ready to shank any bitch that posed themselves as a threat to obtaining the life he's so desperately needing.
If Lelouch has to die, I want my baby to kill him. Then he'd probably commit suicide and follow Lelouch into the afterlife...
