Geass R1 DVD problems

I'm reading about the North American Geass DVDs on AOD and it sounds like many discs have playback problems. You can read here for more info. Mine hasn't shipped yet but hopefully when it does it'll be from a good batch. =.x

And since I'm posting here anyway, a lil update on the Geass project thingy. For all of you who sent me money, could you please PM me with your name (or nickname, though real name is probably best) and country so I can write it down when I send everything? Also, I received a letter for Fukuyama yesterday from someone in Johnson City, TN. Um, please tell me who you are on LJ? .^^; (And thanks for the crane!)

With the DVD glitches, it might mean a delay in sending the stuff so you guys just might have more time to send in your letters and stuff. .^^


EDIT: Thanks to cayterror, we have a response from Bandai:

After reading about the issue in the forums we have checked several copies from the batch which played fine. It should not be a widespread issue. However, most of the product have been shipped so we won't exactly know until the release date. If you are having doubts I would recommend waiting a couple days after the release date. We'll send out a press release if we find any major problems.

So I guess either it's just a bad batch or Bandai is playing ignorant. We'll find out soon enough.

Oh that's good to hear!
Sadly my DVD is already shipped but at least, thanks to you, I'm now mentally prepared for what's to come XD
I would've been devastated if I got the set and wouldn't have been able to play it. Now, I will be surprised IF it plays *laughs* But with Amazon or my US friend, I bet I can solve the issue (if there will be one).

Oh it shipped already? Well, guess you'll find out in a few days if they play or not. Good luck!! (And don't forget to check EVERYTHING. Just because one episode plays does not mean every episode does.)

Yes I read that too. But I planned to watch the whole thing anyway. (And I'll check Toward the Terra as well, it's Bandai too after all ¬_¬)

Geez, this makes me wonder...is it really that difficult to produce working DVDs? If the DVD market was new I would be a bit more understanding, but DVDs have been produced for like 10 years and more now and they still have such huge issues. Tsk! :D

Well, it's not Bandai's fault per say. It's their replicators'. Though yeah, Bandai's been having too many of these problems and it would probably be best for them to switch but *shrug*. Not our choice, right?

True. *points fingers to replicators now* Well, at least if they work the whole problem out quickly I think it's alright. But I guess I wont do pre-orders anymore and wait about a week after the release before I buy it to stay safe XD

Haha, right? And just my luck, this is one of the very few times I'm actually buying a series. .^^;;;
