Tokyo Settlement post-R2 18

This was originally in poll form, but that failed. Oh so miserably.

Post-Turn 18, there is some obvious confusion about the inhabitants of Tokyo Settlement, most obviously Nunnally, Romeyer, Sayoko, Guilford, and Asahina (who are listed as 'missing' on the official site). Assuming FREYA acted as a bomb rather than a transporter of some kind (which actually seems more likely given the visual effects), the survival of pretty much everyone in the blast radius is entirely up in the air at this point. Weirdly, this includes characters like Milly and Rivalz who don't seem like they should be subject to these sorts of things but were nonetheless inside Tokyo when the power went out, and thus were probably still inside when Nukezaku blew everything up.

I do think that Nunnally and possibly possibly possibly Guilford survived, because Charles has various things that he could do with them and various failsafes to get them out if he so desired. And, although I really really want Sayoko to have survived, I don't think she did.

I seriously doubt we'll get closure on Milly and Rivalz. They're just not that important at this point.

ETA: Milly and Rivalz aren't important TO THE PLOT, I mean. They're obviously important to Lelouch and, in Milly's case, important for exposition purposes.

Milly and her cameraman ran from the battle site quite early in the episode, so there's a good chance she's alive. I HOPE.

Wasn't Rivalz back at Ashford at that time? And didn't we get a shot of Milly and the others in the news station running away from the battle site after the power went out?
Also, the Geass homepage says that they're alive. So they're alive.

FLEIA looked more like an imploding bomb... Besides, how could Nina make a transporting bomb? Why would she be so eager to set it off?

Someone else said that there's a chance that Nunnally survived. If you look carefully, there's two different ships. Nunnally got on one of them, but where did Ms. Romeyer go? On the other ship. And why did it take so long for Nunnally's ship to leave? Surely it should have been gone a long time before the implosion. It could be that Ms. Romeyer was caught in FLEIA's range and that Nunnally and Sayoko are fine. But like you said, Guilford is a goner. ;;

id say nunnallys ship never left, they were waiting for the ok from rolo, and he was already outside when fleija went off, they were meant to leave with him, but he left them behind

FREYA behaved in such a way that it created a vacuum, hence the wind rushing inward. It seems consistent with transport. And we still don't know how much Nina knew about the finished product, since Schneizel and Lloyd were tinkering with it until fairly late in. AND we don't know what the Emperor's up to.

In any case, next Sunday is going to be EPIC. And with a show like this, that's really the only thing that matters.

But not really. I don't even think that was Nunally on the ship :| But that's just me. I think it would be rather "convienent" for Milly and Rivalz to be blown away because then it would be them, Shirely, Nunnally and pretty much everyone else that Lelouch cared for once upon a time.

While the LOL JUPITER TELEPORT theory is gloriously ridiculous enough to possibly be true since this is Sunrise, honestly I think that they only have all of those characters listed as MIA because if they just listed Nunnaly and Sayoko (Ms. Bitch was on a different transport) as MIA and everyone else as dead it might be too obvious. Then again it is very obvious that they're making Nunnaly's fate ambiguous.

If you saw the 30-second preview, Ashford was at the very edge of the blast radius. If Milly was in the blast radius we'd have seen her with everyone else who got caught in it.

If anything I see them possibly becoming *more* important to the 'real story', but I could be wrong on that. Regardless, just because he's pulled out of Ashford academy doesn't mean the people there aren't important anymore. Don't forget, they're the reason why he decided to keep moving forward in R2 episode 7.

Something tells me that Nunnally survived and Sayoko didn't. Call it a hunch. Miss Romeyer is a goner, though. Which is good because it's Miss Romeyer.

Compositionally, Milly has become tremendously important because she's graduated to Miss Exposition. Plot-wise, not so much. Rivalz, of course, has never been important in any way. In most shows, I would guess that Milly is alive and Rivalz is dead, but here (especially now that the extended preview shows an intact, if smoke-damaged, Ashford Academy) I would actually guess the opposite. Because, hey, it's Code Geass.

I wouldn't argue that Ashford is unimportant to Lelouch, just that those characters do not really have plot agency of their own.

The official site lists both of them as alive, though.

it would be highly illogical to think that sayoko is a goner while nunally lives because they were together when nukezaku decided to go WTF. If only one of them's going to die, it'd be nunally, because she's crippled, blind and sayoko has mad ninja skills.

Even though they're not really important to the plot right now- they still serve, or served a purpose for the whole Ashford Academy life of Lelouch. I think they would show Milly or Rivalz dying if they died.

But yeah, Ashford Academy is on the rim of the Nuke border- so at least Rivalz is probably still alive.
