Favorite scenes in Code Geass

Since post-series polls are all the rage nowadays...

I want to know what your favorite scene(s) in Code Geass are. It can be serious or lighthearted, plotfully relevant or flat-out silly, an action or a piece of text, whatever. Feel free to take from not just the two season but also the Sound Episodes, the Picture Dramas, and even the novels.


Personally, I think that Lelouch and Suzaku's phone conversation at the end of Stage 23 was the best piece of writing in the entire canon. Epic and menacing, it set the tone for the rest of the series. I also particularly enjoyed C.C.'s S1 ending narration (now made even more tragic), as well as Suzaku's Patriotic Outburst in that one SE. Are my Suzakufag stripes showing yet?

On a slightly different note, I thought Euphie and Lelouch's deaths were the best composed scenes, with all the visual and auditory elements artfully aligned for maximum gutpunch value.

As far as lighthearted scenes go, I have to give it up to Lelouch's awesomely girly gasp, tsundere!Luluko, and "cats and tomatoes don't come in a set!" Thanks for clearing that up for us, Lulu. =P

Hmm... my fave scene would have to be ep 23 R2 when C.C comfort Lelouch after he found out that his sister is still alive. Afterall, I'm a C.C x Lulu fan!

Even though I'm not much of a Lulu/Shirley shipper, I have to say that my favorite scenes in the series revolved around Shirley finding out that Lelouch had killed her father, losing her memories, the angst she felt when she remembered everything again, and then her tragic death after her memories returned.

My other favorite scene is when Lulu first became emperor. That was just awesome in 500 different ways.

The Refrain episode- Kallen unable to throw her mother away made me bawl the hardest. And... then Lelouch as Zero meeting with Nunnally again in R2, unable to take her because it would be against her will.

In addition to the scenes people have already mentioned, I also liked the scene where Lelouch confronts his parents in the world of C. Their dialogues were pretty powerful, and we also gain insight on Lelouch's thoughts on parenting, the future etc.

(not in order)
- Euphe, Shirley, Rolo (baaww), and Lelouch's (;__;) deaths. Each one were orchestrated in its own way, but tugged my heartstrings nonetheless just the same.
- R1's festival was full of fun, but wow R2.. that's amazing. Ninja!Sayoko is pretty impressive pwning things the real Lelouch would never be able to do LOL.
- Nunally's cry/scream when she realizes Lelouch's plans. ;___; This added to the effect.
- Er.. what else... Orenji's devotion to his majesty. That's epic... and the orange farm? AWESOME.

I honestly have way more scenes I like... but these come to mind. ;__;

The very first scene in episode one of season one... possibly my favourite ever. I completely did not understand what was going on at the time (I actually thought the sound was broken or something because I couldn't hear any words... not even noticing the lack of subtitles. >_>).

But later, I looked back and was like "... T_T Lelouch and Suzaku... and... CC... T_T"

And yeah. It ended up being my favourite ever scene. Just because...

I also adored that phone conversation in episode 23 (Season One) between Lelouch and Suzaku, for the same reasons you listed.

Another favourite of mine is when Lelouch finds out that Suzaku is the Lancelot's pilot... the music just made it that much more awesome. It was also the only time that I thought his laugh (at the end of the episode) sounded genuinely insane instead of just evil.

Another favourite from season one is after he finds out that he killed Shirley's dad and how CC's like "I thought you said you were prepared..." and he basically begins to realize just what he's committed himself to... and then decides to follow through despite it all.

... I'll stop listing all my favourite dramatic/depressing scenes, now, or I'll write an essay, heh. But yeah, I also agree with all the ones you listed, especially Lulu's and Euphie's deaths, for all the reasons you gave.

Favourite comic scenes: Lelouch's girly scream. Lelouch chasing Arthur up the stairs and being easily overtaken by Suzaku, and saying "Damn jocks" as he tries to catch his breath. Lelouch trying to be all manly and digging a trap and failing utterly and Euphie's trying not to laugh at him. Lelouch being all hurt at the idea of Ougi keeping a secret from him during the school festival in R2 episode five. That scene where Rivalz is like "Lelouch has a home-making book!" and Lelouch says "How did you know?" and Rivalz is like "... crap, you actually do?"

-when shirely asks lulu in the rain why zero had killed her father who had been so kind. then she runs into his arms and kisses him.
-when lulu becomes emperor and introduces the new knight of zero suzaku.
-the cupid day..when shirley asks lulu why he had kissed her....and the whole convo that follows..^^
-oh! and cant forget when suzaku shoots and breaks open zeros mask at the end of s1.
-that confrontation scene between lulu and suzaku in r2. suzaku says he cant believe lulu dared to show up in front of him after all he had done, lulu kneeeling and begging suzaku to save his sister (this really hit me hard), and suzaku stepping on him and telling him to make his lies truths.

Probably not my absolute favorite, but the first that comes to mind--

When Lelouch finds out who pilots Lancelot. Epic scene, builds up some characterization, has great music, a sweet KMF battle, and some SuzaLulu sexual tension. Not to mention this is one of the pivot points of the series. Still kinda gives me chills when Suzaku rises up and Lelouch and Kallen has no idea what to do next. :`D

AND I DON'T KNOW IF THIS COUNTS AS A SCENE BUT IT GETS ME EVERYTIME ;__;
Lelouch remembers back to his childhood in Japan, with Nunnally and Suzaku, and Suzaku says the line about happiness being the form of glass. EVERYTIME. ♥

Oh God there are so many. C.C giving the Geass power to Lelouch in the very first episode. Mao revealing Suzaku's secret. Euphie's death. The whole crossdressing picture drama. The childhood Sound Episodes. The phone conversation in 23. The confrontation in 25. Emperor FABULOUS the First introducing his Knight of Zero...

...among others.

Oh, and of course, "Lelouch's awesomely girly gasp". 8D

That said, if I had to choose one and only one...it would be the whole Zero Requiem scene. Because it's...beautiful.
