This episode was really more about the angst and drama than advances in plot, so this is less of a cohesive discussion and more a collection of observations.
01: Nunnally... is a sweet girl. A really sweet, earnest girl who's full of sparkles and bubbles and flower petals. Which makes her a really terrible politician. It's hard to imagine what she could have done that would have been worse than announcing the reestablishment of the SAR. It's my pet theory that without Zero offering to work with her, Nunnally would have probably been ousted as governor very soon.
02: And I wish the producers would give her more of a personality, because currently, she's justthe Euphinator Euphemia V.2.0. (Which means she is destined to have a love affair with Suzaku. >_>)
03: With Kaguya rejoining the Black Knights, Lelouch's harem now has an official name. -__- It's sort of sweet. In a very awkward kind of way.
04: And I think that with this episode, we probably don't need to worry about Lelouch throwing Rolo away, because the boy can obviously look out for himself. I like how he's playing mind games with Lulu now, partly as payback, partly to drive Lulu up a wall and convince him to forget about being Zero. I fear for Nunnally if Rolo ever meets her.
05: Lelouch's confrontation with the Refrain thugs filled me, simultaneously, with great horror and amusement. He was obviously losing it really fast, but that evil, batshit crazy laugh? That will never not be crack. XD
06: C.C. talks to dead people (specifically Marianne) again. D: I demand backstory and further explanations, damnit! (Maybe she and V.V. and others like them are some sort of Death Gods who came from Jupiter seeking a way to break their curse of eternal youth and immortality. /crack)
07: The entire scene with Lelouch and Kallen was just ouch. It's almost heartbreaking to see Lelouch reduced to such a state that he'd consider drugs and sex as ways of escaping. But. You can't deny that he was just asking to be kicked in the face with his "That's something women can do, right?" line.Lulu you twit. Who do you think you're talking to? She's arguably the best pilot in your entire resistance. Thus, Kallen: 2, Lelouch: 0.
08: I find it extremely amusing that Sunrise chose to follow the Kallen scene with a Rolo scene. It's like they had to balance it out to reach their weekly ghey quota. XD Because if Rolo's speech wasn't a declaration of love, then all language has lost its meaning.
09: I love the student council. With all my heart. That scene was just beautiful. :'D (I still think that one of the best things about Code Geass is that even though Lelouch is a heartless, manipulative bastard who doesn't give a flip about honor, he still has a heart and people he loves. That doesn't excuse him of his blatant selfishness, cruelty, or disregard for life, but that shows that he's still human. Which is more realistic and interesting than someone who doesn't care about anything or anyone else in the world other than himself.)
10: It's good that Lelouch has realized that he can't be Zero for Nunnally alone anymore. The point is that he no longer has the right to stop. He hasn't had that right since he shot his half-brother in the face at point-blank range. He's spilled too much blood and given too many people hope for him to turn back now. The decision is completely out of his hands. He has to continue his rebellion, even if it goes against Nunnally's wishes. He has to do it for Kallen, for the Black Knights, and for every Japanese person who's died clutching a picture of Zero.
11: It's funny that Lelouch with a map and a phone > three knights of the round and an entire fleet of the Britannian navy. You'd think they would have realized beforehand that there was a giant tank of methane hydrate in the general vicinity of their missiles. >_> Hello, deus ex machina.
12: I love how C.C. starts to turn to smile at Kaguya before realizing what she's doing and looks away. XD
13: Episode 8 seems to be more plot-focused. I'm really curious about how Villetta and Rolo are going interact with Lelouch. Maybe Lelouch will win her over with the promise of letting her see Ougi. 8D And I'm assuming that Lelouch is addressing Nunnally in his voice over?

I actually thought Lelouch was seriously considering Rolo's words and was about to just ditch it all.

That scene with Rolo was sweet...and didn't last long enough. D<

Rollo is awesome... Although I also fear that a trained assassin having something against Nunnally is scary.
(no subject)
And if Rolo ever laid a hand on Nunnally, Lelouch would undoubtedly turn the entire order against him. You don't fuck with the sister.
(no subject)
and oh, I couldn't help but to think LeLouch will try to expose himself as Zero personally to Nunally, perhaps to discourage her being governor. And I really hope LeLouch's feeling to Rolo will be evolved and they somehow will need each other. I hope Rolo is not excluded... I grow to love him, and his character is lovable.
Nevertheless, I think this ep less intense than the last week ep, I didnt feel my heart beating so fast like last ep for sure!

Well, last week's episode had tons of action and Kallen being kickass, so I guess it's to be expected. XD

09 and 10 That scene got me teary-eyed, srsly I'm not kidding! So it made me really happy that he realized he now has the obligation to fight for everyone’s sake--not only Nun ally’s whom (I agree with you) needs more of personality
Great commentary on the series.

Totally agree about your points on this. Especially 08 XD Seriously a deceleration of love there as I've come to realise Rolo is such a Lelouch fanboy (why was he watching him sleep O_O )
oh and I hope there is no SuzakuxNunnally D= because all I can picture is a scene of those two and Lelouch running in screaming 'GET YOUR HANDS OFF MY SISTER'
and it cracks me up so bad XDD

Probably counting the number of times Lelouch said Nunnally's name. >_>
XD Someone needs to animate that, seriously.

More LuluRolo, plz!).It wasn't in the preview, but I'm really hoping we'll see some development on the Geass plots soon, 'cause they way that they've left us hanging in that area is just lame. We still know next to nothing about the origin, developement, or purpose of Geass(es). And I'm afraid at the rate the show is going (ie, non-stop episodes that all seem to be building to a very early climax), we won't get the background on the Geass at all.
(no subject)
WORD. It's the second season already and we still know next to nothing about how the geass works, what the terms of the contract are, what the Emperor and his magical hanging temple are all about, why Jupiter is everywhere, and what the whole "World of C" is. -__-

... That would be fail. Complete and utter fail, and I'd probably chuck something at my computer if that happened. Am hoping very fervently that it won't

All of my reactions are posted in my journal now, but main points:
Yay for official Zero's harem! :D
LelouchxKallen scene: Lelouch deserved a kick to the balls for that "that's something women can do, right?" line.
And then a Rolo scene right after. I agree: the ghey is now a weekly quota.
The friend's scene was waaay too cheezy. And yet it had me grinning like a doof.
The methane thing was awesome though. They put science in my Geass? O.O (Being the geek I am, I loved it, though.)
Oh and Lloyd = WIN.
And one more point: Suzaku. This episode had a lot of emotions shown by his facial expressions in it. Given that last scene with him, it is likely that he has gotten the whole Lelouch = Zero thing. I mean, COME ON, it was practically spelled out for the guy right there. If he STILL didn't get it, or is doing is R1 "I believe in Lelouch" thing again, I wanna smack some sense into the boy.
(no subject)
On Suzaku, he really does know about Zero=Lulu, I'm sure, he's not in denial anymore, really. *prays*

03: The harem WINZ. And if they had sex with Lulu (assuming Suzaku doesn't do something first), they'd top. All signs lead to it.
05: I wanted to pat Lulu on the back right there. This is such a large turning point for him, especially since I think he knows exactly what he has to do to keep his life-long devotion to Nunnally intact. Probably the most important scene in the whole season so far.
07: LULU YOU
DICKASS!08: HAHAHAHAHA. YES. EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING. I will be with you forever, Rolo? And it didn't help that he looked just about ready to kiss Lulu when he said that. TOO CLOSE ROLO. TOO CLOSE.
The weekly geih quota giddifies me.
11: Suspension of belief but seriously, even I facepalmed with that one. Wth methane hydrate. So conveniently situated there at the most opportune of times.
(no subject)
You know the Bermuda Triangle and how ships "mysteriously sink"? Yeah, methane bubbles do that because they do something to the water to make your ships less buoyant and thus, ships capsize and sink like logs, and small bubbles in large quantities can overturn your ship simply bu knocking it off balance, like so.
Convenient plot device by use of actual science.

That shouldn't be crossed out; it's so true.
Kallen has more balls than Lelouch and he knows it.

Word. I think Lulu cries himself to sleep sometimes over how much manlier Kallen is. XD

6) Seriously, right? 32 episodes into Code Geass, and we know as little about geass as we did at the beginning. *sigh*
8) Although Lelouch is still the most fabulous character on the show by far, Rolo is the most gay. Just come out already, sheesh, and consummate your mindfucky, angsty, sibcon, shota buttsex. =P
9) Well, I wouldn't lay those charges so quickly upon Lelouch. But in any case, I think he has learned more about honor in this episode. And he is incredibly selfish and incredibly not at the same time. He may seek to further his own ends, but his own ends have generally sought to further others'. He's more or less lived his life for other people. This may be as validation for his existence after Daddy denounced his worth when he was 9, but still. Though he is a practical realist, Lelouch has always cared about the individual, and I do believe that he feels every loss and sacrifice that he has them make.
11) Deus ex machina? In my Geass? Perish the thought! (Still not nearly as bad as Lelouch's worst joke ever.)

I agree with all of that, actually. It's just that there's such a huge disparity between how he treats the people he cares about and how he treats the random soldiers he meets. It shows that he doesn't believe other people's lives are worth as much as the lives of those close to him. The fact that he's doing all of this for others may not be so much an indication of his selflessness, but a testimony to how closely his dreams are connected to his family and his past.
(... I wonder what the fact that he's my favorite character because of all this says about me? o_O)

02: Oh sweet Jesus and everything that is holy NO. Please, please don't ever let that idea even cross the writers' minds. Although I do think she is quickly going to be the focal turning point for both Lulu and Suzaku, much as Euphie was last season.
I'm waiting for the Emperor to kill her and watch Suzaku try to wrap his mind around THAT one.03: I agree kind of an odd way, although I thought it was a bit heavy handed with the symbolism, as if the writers were saying, "YOU SHOULD BE PAYING ATTENTION TO THESE THREE AND HOW THEY DIFFERENTLY RELATE TO LULU." On with a 2x4. -.-* Regardless, since I'm a sucker for symbolism, Kaguya is shaping up to be the heart of the group, C.C. has always been the brain in a way, and Kallen is the muscle. Although as you pointed out, I am SO happy Kallen is shaping up to be the one to pull Lulu's head out of his ass on occasion. It desperately needs to be done and she has no problem hitting him as many times as needed. I'm really curious to see how their relationship proceeds, although I personally don't see anything about it romantic at this moment in time.
11. Seriously, what kind of freaking map did he HAVE? I'm pretty sure shit like that would not be on a normal ocean-depth map. I also want to know how he found out about it considering he trashed his phone. ¬.¬ Ah, the magic of Lulu.
