I cried like a pathetic asshole when Shirley died, and even moreso when Lulu "died".
I still refuse to believe it. D
(no subject)
#2 Euphie
#3 Lelouch
#45394857 Shirley
#1 For me, I cried the most when Rolo died... The Hitomi song accompanied by the fact that he was finally doing something that he wished to do, rather than obeying others' orders as a "tool"... Looking back, I think I cried not only because I was sad, but more so because I was *happy* for him ;_;
#2 Euphie is one of my favorite characters of the series, but I didn't cry when she died... Rather, I was very shocked, speechless, and *RAAAGE*
I agree with the poster above who said that her death was the beginning of the downward spiral of the rest of the series... Suzaku never smiled anymore after she died (and I *love* Suzaku's smile!!), and if only she wasn't geassed, then really, *everyone* would have been happy! *sigh*
#3 I love Lelouch, but I wanted him to die because of all the deaths and pain he caused, but when he finally did, I couldn't help but cry ;_;
(The first time I watched the last episode, I thought that he was dead, but after visiting message boards and such, I now believe that he's alive and immortal ^_^)
#45394857 I never really liked Shirley, so I didn't feel sad when she died at all... In fact, I was kind of like "hurry up and die already" when she was confessing her feelings to Lelouch with her final breaths (don't shoot me! I'm a Lelouch x C.C. fan!!) I even became a bigger Rolo fan because he killed her =D

He's killed by his best friend bearing everyone's hate on his shoulders, alone, without even CC around, i'm not even sure he heard Nunnally saying he loved him and, even if he's sure with his death he'll manage to accomplish something... well, it seems a price too big. He'll never see the better world he wanted to build and he knew it all along.
Nunnally's desperate cries at the end while the people cheered for Zero and hitomi's music only made it more drammatic (BTW has anyone noticed the parallelism between his death and Euphemia?) Plus the fact that everyone seemed to have gotten over his death so easily...
I've hard time ordering the other three since they're all beautiful and emotionally involving. Anyway...
I adored Rolo and I was thinking he would die much later. His death caught me unprepared and I was mostly 'but why now? Couldn't they do it later?'. There's something wrong in killing him that early, I wanted him to stop being a tool for more than the time he needed to save Lelouch, I wanted him to understand the best solution isn't killing people, I wanted him to be loved.
Another character I was very fond of was Euphemia. When I started watching the series I knew she would die but still... With her didn't die just any hope for the series to have a good ending but also... well, in the end no one managed to pick up her legacy.
Nunnally and Suzaku tried but failed.
Suzaku was consumed by hate, Nunnally... well, maybe she was too young to manage to get through Lelouch. I still think if Euphemia had been in her place she would have persuaded him to turn the Zero Requiem into something better. After all 'she was Lelouch's worst enemy and the one who defeated him' (Lelouch's words).
She managed to get through him while Nunnally couldn't. She managed to have him trust her plan enough he agreed to cooperate.
... at least that's what I think.
Shirley... Shirley is another death I wasn't prepared at and for whom I saw no point apart from turning Lelouch against Rolo and the order (causing Asahina's suspicions to grow).
I also dislike how her words about forgiveness went lost on Suzaku (same on Lelouch who didn't understand she wouldn't like him to make a massacre to avenge her... but I'll give him the benefit of not having been thinking straight at the moment).
I never thought or wished she would end with Lelouch but still... her parting words were great. They made me wish she could have a chance.

I loved Euphie, and sure her massacre was amusing, but when she was laying there, Suzaku holding her hand and crying, wanting her to stay with him... I cried. Fuuuck.
And Lelouch's for all the obvious reasons.
Shirley's made me mildly sad, I was never really fond of her but how she died was just unfortunate and sad, and it felt sort of forced.
Rolo's death made me lol.

So:
1.Lelouch
2.Nunnally
3:Shirley and Euphie tie
4.Rolo, I cared for, but his death was inevitable, so I didn't mourn him so much.
(no subject)
Holy shit I bawled my eyes out when he died. +STILL IN DENIAL+
2. ROLO
That made me so depressed T____T...I teared up during that too..
3. Euphie/Shirley
I'm not quite sure about my reaction when Euphie died...I watched it such a long time ago so yeah...Shirley was so sad too, but not as sad as #1 and #2 for me.

Rolo would have to be second. I hated him even before R2 started because he kept on murdering me in the damn Lost Colors games xD but i started to pity him when R2 started. All he wanted was to be with his nii-san ;__;
Shirley had a sad death, but her character annoyed the crap out of me.
I wasn't a fan of Euphie either, but i give her kudos for going off with a bang xD

Shirley's death almost made me teary. Didn't cry at all at Euphy's. :D;;

enough said.

Then Sherly - Euphemia (both of them are in the same level of sadness for me)
I really didn't like Rolo, since the begining of R2... so I was glad he died.
(no subject)
I guess that my Only comfort is the possibility of Rolo and Lelouch meeting eachother in some kind of afterlife in the world of C or something like that....
(no subject)
As far as the deaths went, yes, I felt bad for all of them...except Rolo because he killed Shirley. Oh my gosh...I was so upset, but I noticed anytime anyone would say "nunnally" that would be his trigger word to set him off, like he was supposed to be "nunnally" or something like that; it was really something.
Euphemia I was very sad for because it was accidental, but necessary since there was nothing that could be done to stop her. Why did Lelouch have to speak like that around her? Oh god...
I will say I was surprised when the elder sister - I forget her name - showed up ALIVE in the 2nd arc. I was 100% her ass was toast...and then...there she was again! What the hell! Heh...
Everyone else I must say I really didn't pay too much attention to...

Both are the most heartbreaking deaths in CG. Not to mention that both deaths were made parallel. Everyone cheering for Zero and hating the one who died.
Euphie really made me cry, especially when Suzaku had to lie to Euphie since she didn't remember what she did. I also feel that during the point when Lelouch decided to kill her, he just felt that Euphie wouldn't live with herself knowing what she had done. I also agree with above posters when they said that Euphie's death eventually led to the downward spiral.
Lulu on the other hand, really intended everything to happen. Which was very tragic. As said earlier, he never got to see the future that he had worked for, and only a select few know/realized his true objective.
2) Rolo
Pretty much everyone who said Rolo as the most heartbreaking stated the reasons I have.
3) Shirley
It was heartbreaking as well. But not as heartbreaking as the other three.

ROLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO TT_________________TT

;_;

Why?
1) Lelouch, one of her most beloved persons, shot her and she didn't even know why.
2) She died having done things she had sacrificed her everything to prevent.
3) She died as people cursed her and praised the man who caused her death.
4) The overlaying Zero!Zero!Zero! chant over Hitomi bgm.
5) She died taking Suzaku's soul with her. He's never the same afterwards. Euphy was not only his love, but also the personification of everything he wanted to believe in.
6) Her death signifies Lelouch's path of no return. I believe, even after everything in S1, he could still return to being Nunnally's brother in hiding. But after his mistake cost him Euphy and a mountainload of Japanese people, there is no turning back.
Lelouch's is second, but more because it's Suzaku doing it (by stabbing to boot!) and Nunnally's reaction. Mentally, I have always been prepared for Lelouch's death, and I knew it'd be by his terms. I just thought it'd be by Damocles self-destructing or something.
Shirley's death scene is really short :/ I'm sad for her, more so for her mother, but still, the only heartbreaking moment in her death is Lelouch's scream.
Rolo's death is expected, more so than Lelouch's. It was sad, but it was his retribution. If anything, it's happy because at last he does something out of his own volition and Lelouch acknowledges him as a brother.
ITA, especially #5

Then she was ACCIDENTALLY Geass'd (I can't put all the blame on Lulu though; he didn't know either) and made to do one of the things she abhorred. Euphie resisted at first, but the Geass won over her and stained her image. She could have been remembered as the most benevolent among the Britannian royals, but instead she was called the Massacre Princess. Sure, it was hilarious watching the Euphinator (Please die ^_^), but it was also heartbreaking, because knowing the Geass, she couldn't stop unless she is incapacitated. Lelouch HAD to kill her; either that, or risk total genocide. He loved her, even admitting that she was his first love, but sadly, he had to pull the trigger. It's even more tragic when someone who loves you kills you.
Her last scene with Suzaku was the final nail in the coffin. He risked getting killed (then again, he does have the "live on" Geass order anyhow) to save her (from herself, perhaps?), and had to lie to her. I can't blame Suzaku either, for not having the heart to tell her what she had done. She had no memory of that incident, that she caused the chaos, and died thinking that the Japanese were happy with her, but in reality it's the complete opposite - she would be forever remembered as the Massacre Princess.
Poor Euphemia. I still miss her. I could not find the tears to cry for her because I was in shock. Sure, I was spoiled beforehand that she would die, but I thought she would die a heroic death, probably saving Suzaku's life or something. But no, she had to die by Geass, forced to do something terrible before finally being killed by a person who loved her, and having no memory of anything, anything at all.
Lelouch is a very close second. Even if he and Suzaku had planned it, I froze in my seat and hung on to their last conversation, how Suzaku would be remembered as a hero, how Lelouch wanted this to happen, so that the world would unite against him and behind Zero(zaku). Watching Nunnally cry over him was just...just... T_T But it's only second to Euphie's death because it was planned, he knew what was going on, and he anticipated what would happen next.
I never liked Rolo much until his final moments. Same with Shirley. I also wanted to scream, "QUIT USING YOUR GEASS!" when Rolo's heart began to fail from using his Geass, but of course, he still continued, all in the name of saving his "brother". I also expected Shirley to die when Jeremiah unknowingly de-Geass'd her, since knowing that much instantly makes you a walking target. But when she told Lulu that she loved him, and Lelouch kept using his Geass to keep her alive, and then he screamed...and her death was covered up as a suicide...
Poor Clovis. Only a few episodes of screen time and then he kicks the bucket. I still feel sorry for him. At least he's somewhere on Clovis Island, enjoying himself.
(no subject)
Oh, no. Do you know what this line make me think? If Euphy on her deathbed still had some strength left and not enough willpower to resist the geass to kill Suzaku, which activated Suzaku's live geass and he became the one to kill her. O_o; Thank God they didn't pick this route or I'll probably be scarred for life.

balled my eyes out when lulu "died" with the help of nuna-chan. never cried so hard in an anime before T^T
shirley comes second coz i loved shirley. her memories being erased was sad enough T^T! to me, her situation was heartbreaking. she loved lulu no matter what and she didnt want lulu to be lonely. lulu geassing her to live was just made me cry.
euphies death made me teary. it was all an accident and when suzaku was talkin bout going to ashford together T_____T
rolo.....after him killing shirley....i saw it coming but it was sad when he said "u were lying onii-san."
in a nutshell....sunrise noes how to get the water works going.

After traveling the long road with him from episode 1, I knew everything he'd been through, what he was trying to accomplish (for the most part), how he suffered just to try to turn the world into a peaceful place. God, I bawled so hard when he died because it was so touching, the way he just accepted everything. I'd been afraid of a swimming lessons ending, so I was so happy that he won in the end. Though, it was such a heartbreaking victory..
Shirley's and Rolo's were both really sad, too.. but I was happy when Euphie died because she was such a dumb character anyways.

The circumstances of his death as well as all the sins and regrets he willingly bore with him to the afterlife, with his name forever smeared to an extent that it eclipses the Massacre Princess', and knowing that he designed everything to be so in order to protect the future from all those who would deprive mankind of it, all combined into a punch in the gut for me.
I think I shed a tear or two for Rolo's as well, and I was saddened by Shirley's, but effect wise, it's gotta be Lelouch.
