Do you think that Lelouch loved someone romantically in the end? There have been hints with C.C., Shirley and Kallen.Personally i think that the staff was going with C.C. and Lelouch in the first season and in the second they took the route for Lelouch and Kallen.Shirley was in school and it was hard in the first place.
What is your opinion?

C.C., Shirley, and Kallen were all important to Lelouch, for sure; I don't think anybody can reasonably argue that. The issue is whether or not his feelings were romantic or platonic. I think in his heart he had some romantic feelings for all three, but felt very confused about his own feelings and had a lot of bigger things to worry about. I can find evidence of all three pairings in Lelouch's words, expressions, thoughts, and actions as seen in the show itself.
One could also make the case that each of Lelouch's personas went with one romantic interest: the normal school student Lelouch Lamperouge with Shirley, the rebel terrorist leader Zero with Kallen, and the fallen prince with the power of the King (and later the Emperor) with C.C.

I think Lulu and Shirley were the best couple. She suits him the most and I believe that Shirley has the best capability to be there for Lelouch and to understand him.

He definitely cared deeply for all 3 of the girls but I don't think he ever paid close attention to romance at all. Too busy fighting Britannia.
If I had to choose a pairing, I would pick LelouchxShirley. I agree with

Ah, no. It was like this in the beginning but she came to love him for who he was ultimately. Re-watch her monologue in R2-22.
C.C. seemed more like an accomplice than a lover (and she's too old for him anyway)
And C.C., did comfort and helped Lelouch a lot of times, past the accomplice-role. /and she certainly did like to tease him a lot which eliminates the age-difference too.
p.s and this is not about choosing pairings btw.

I am a bit biased however because I hate C.C.
Kallen can come too though.

except Lulu/Nunna, because who says "aishiteru" to their siblings? oh Britanniacest.Although I must confess to enjoying him in particular with (in order of preference) Suzaku, Euphie, Kallen, Milly, Shirley, Nunnally, and Schneizel. Also I do love me some Cornelia/Luluko.
(I see C.C. as (for a long time) a little too detached/jaded to really be interested in a relationship, but I think if they'd had a little more time things could have easily gone in that direction.)
As far as canon goes, though, I gotta stick with the "he had no time to worry about that" side.

I saw this mentioned on TV tropes too, and I've been wondering (but was unable to ask the editor there) what is the proper way to say "I love you" to siblings in Japan? (I have only learned Japanese in classrooms, and they've been very unhelpful about subtleties of vocabulary.)

Personally though, I like my Lelouch completely asexual, aromantic and clueless, but I do ship Lulu/Rolo inside the latter's mind xD. Yeah, it's somehow different from claiming that I ship it as one-sided on Rolo's part because Lelouch too has done a lot of pseudo-otoutoincestual things, he just doesn't perceive them that way because of his utter cluelessness~
I apologize for the ghei comment inside a mainly heterosexual-pairings-centered discussion thread ´・ω・

Essentially, Lelouch loves all of his special people. I think the final event "picture drama" captures this well. Now, I think the creators have hinted heavily toward it being more likely for Lelouch to have eventually gravitated toward Shirley had he had the time to stop focusing on rebellion and mature a little. They love to focus on Shirley and Lelouch in side materials, particularly his final dream sequence. They also imply that what he and Suzaku have is a very strong and unique version of friendship/love/whatever that's almost impossible to define.
So yes, in conclusion, Lelouch doesn't classify love in his mind so romance hadn't had the time to come into the picture for him. Had he lived longer, it probably would have.

It's kind of an awesome aspect of the series in some ways since it leaves room for so much variety...but it's also annoying because some people get hung up on their interpretations being the only right ones.

I always saw it that in terms of who he loved most, platonic or otherwise, it went 1. Nunnally, 2. Suzaku, 3. Shirley/Kallen/C.C. (The sort-of love interests), and 4. Euphie/Rolo/Rest of the Ashford gang.

Since Lulu is a virgin, it pretty much sunk every type of ship I could possibly have with him.
As a Suzalulu fangirl and elite stalker of fanfics in this genre...Over 75% of the fics dealing with it, are about Requiem-isms. All of which could not be true even with the vagueness of the "2 month" time skip. So, personally I just believe now that as far as canon goes, Lulu is just whatever the fans want him to be.
I'm fine with that, I'll stick with my pairing and the rest can stick with theirs.
Sounds cool with me, especially if people don't flame hard on certain fandoms just because they don't like them.

Shirley: Someone who loves Lelouch unconditionally. Had he have chosen a normal life, Lelouch would probably have married her.
Karen: The one who loves Zero.
Nunnally: The beloved sister for whom Lelouch did everything for.
Personally, I think Lelouch ended up with C.C.
He didn't love her at first but she became the only one who knew the real him... apart from Suzaku later on^^
He also got to know the real her and instead of letting her let Charles kill her, he called her back and told him he would grant her her true wish (to be truly loved). He wouldn't have said that if he didn't truly love her.
Lelouch was never focused on romance during the story but I believe they do love each other.
The romance would start once everything ended. In the end I believe they disappeared together, protecting the Code until the time would come when it would be needed again.

Now, it doesn't have to be official for you to enjoy it.
And Kallen loved all of him in the end. She made it clear :P
